Customer experiences
I'd been wanting to try this place for a while & met a friend for lunch. I had the savory egg tart, although the egg custard was smooth, the crust was like a frozen "store-bought", which was disappointing. Too bad.
This place is upscale (inside) with matching pricing ($$$) in a dilapidated town with a poor parking situation. I was really hoping it would be a hidden find. The chicken sandwiches and mini burgers were mediocre; I'm not sure why they asked how we wanted the mini burgers if they were going to cook them all the same way. The charcuterie board was delicious, but not worth the 2 hour drive. Maybe those with more refined palates would enjoy the other foods here. For a normal family this is a no-go and not worth the experience. Staff was very friendly and we love the living wage/no tipping policy. This actually made us want to tip more. My son requested a stop at The Cheese Shop for his 16th birthday. We purposefully lined up a lunch date to coincide with going to the Cheese Shop, located inside Glasshalfull using the hours of operation on their website. These hours are NOT correct.
Dined on the leafy patio on a delightful evening. Excellent and reasonably priced wine list. Many options are gluten free, including the dessert menu, which is unusual. I highly recommend the arugula and beet salad. My husband had the hangar steak and I had the short rib. Both absolutely scrumptious. The duck leg special sounded delicious, but, unfortunately, they had sold out by the time we arrived. We split the lemon olive oil drizzle cake for dessert, a perfect ending to a fine meal. Our server was new, but charming and helpful. We will return soon.
Was disappointed they no longer have steak frites but was offered some hanger steak which was too complicated and did not taste as well. So the best item on menu was the scallops. Rustic restaurant with wide range of wines, service was excellent but food not up to expectations for that price point, only the scallops live up to our high expectations.
Glasshalfull is a new american restaurant.
