I started with Mike Weber from the mount pleasant location in 2022. He helped us increase our credit score and got us through the home buying process in about 6-7 weeks. Fast forward to April 2025. Mike Weber told us to go over to do our renovation loan with Fred Kreger from the DSM office. Starting I was not given an estimate on how long these normally take (expect 4 months) I started this hoping to get my basement encapsulated, central air, fix the electrical panel, fence (for safety for my disabled son since he elopes), fixing sidewalk (it’s broken and causing my son to trip and get hurt since he’s not fully walking and needs a walker), and a retaining wall. I got all of my quotes before starting the process. My total came out to $41,000. Of course, obviously there’s an increase in paying because you have interest on a loan and all of that. The company that Fred hired out for the inspection was lazy and arrogant. Nuco services. These people are based out of Ohio. Their phone number online was incorrect. Finally, when the guy had contacted me three weeks later, he blamed someone for putting our file in with somebody else’s supposedly that’s what caused the delay. Even after that, he blamed his employees. Finally we get the inspection done after paying $1200 to this company. When they send us the file, they send us someone else’s loan info all the way from Texas. We are located in Iowa so very difficult to shift blame on that one. . After that we were told we need the next lady to come out for the home assessment which doesn’t make much sense. Everyone appraised my house based on what the job would look like when it’s completed.(I’ll come back to this later in this review). She got that done super fast and we were ready to move onto the next part. Our credit score expired last Friday so when FHA went to pull our loan for an audit, that meant we were put on a delay again. Our credit score went down too much to even be willing to offer us a loan anymore. He told us that our loan inspection would be good for six months which means we basically have to have a loan with them. Otherwise we will never get our $1200 back from the inspection. Even if we try to get a loan through someone else. We don’t do this as a job and you should be able to be assured that someone’s going to do this the right way the first time and give you an exact estimation moving forward with anything. We were put on a back burner by many companies suggested by them. Our inspection report is only good for six months now that we paid the $1200 for but I guarantee that even if we continue with them, we would have to put out another $1200 for a new inspection due to the fact that you can’t complete any ground jobs Outdoors in Iowa when there’s a bunch of snow and negative degree weather.
