Avoid Gold’s Gym if you can. I signed up for a membership in February and later went to my bank to pull expenses for work (they reimburse $100/month). That’s when I noticed three separate charges of $34.64 in May. When I brought it up, they refused to refund me. I eventually just told them to keep it. I went back through my statements and found another charge: a so-called “bi-annual enhancement fee” of $40.95. According to them, this fee is to “modernize and upgrade the facility.” Personally, I think that should be the responsibility of the gym owner, not an extra charge on members. If you read other reviews, you’ll notice a pattern—cancellation and collections issues. I cancelled mine by email and thankfully kept written proof, but many people weren’t as lucky and had their credit affected. The gym itself is mediocre at best. Some staff are nice, but the hidden fees and shady billing practices make it not worth joining. If I could give zero stars, I would.

SCAM ARTISTS Running scam. This gym charged me almost over 50$$ for membership and didnot return the money. They have bunch of lame excuses not to return your money even when you follow policies to cancel membership. And the amount you pay monthly is over 50$. They know how to rip people off.

What an extortion racket. Once you join, and say you stop going and lock your debit card, unless you pay the huge cancellation rate, they will stay quiet and send you to collections for over 1000$ without telling you months or years later, saying you owe them. FOR WHAT? I didn’t use the gym! what am I paying for, your rent on west broadway??? I used this gym like 5 times and paid for the months that I used it. They lock the turnstile if your account isn’t paid so what are they justifying taking money from people who stop going? Gyms have the worst business models. That’s why they trap you in fine print contracts, go after you when you try to leave or cancel, and in this case, try and take money from you even though you stopped visiting the gym for over a year. Disgusting that I got an email from collections on services never used. Will be sending these people a nice letter from a lawyer.

It pains me to write this review because this was my gym for years and years and years but I am left with no other option. Gold’s Gym was great, it was my second gym in Vancouver since COVID and I have referred countless new clients to them. However, and I am sorry to say, that loyalty was not returned to me. In November of 2023, I was the victim of a devastating house fire that resulted in the loss of most of my belongings and I was forced to move. Upon my final visit to Gold’s, I informed them of the situation and advised them that I would be placing my account on hold for an indefinite period of time. I was assured not to worry about it further, and they would be there if and when I was able to come back. Fast forward to fall last year, I am contacted by a debt collection to agency that says I owe them hundreds of dollars. Shocked, I reached out to Gold’s. They respond that it is their “policy” to only cancel or suspend accounts when advised *in writing*. They refuse to take any action or remediation. If I want this taken off my credit file, I need to shell out hundreds of dollars to pay for a month-to-month membership I did not use. As a loyal client I would have expected better.
