I attended a beginners workshop with a friend today and we really enjoyed it. I have never sat in front of a sewing machine before never mind made something. Today I made a cushion cover with the support of Jen our tutor, who was so patient, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The session was lovely and welcoming by all who attended, we were even treated to tea and cake! Great session, in a relaxed and friendly environment. Highly recommended!

Just a word of advice to people ordering monogrammed hankerchiefs from this company. The mistake is, I'm advised, entirely mine as I misunderstood the difference between 'straight' stitching and 'diagonal'. I wanted and ordered diagonal. I've attached a photo, this is apparently diagonal - for this reason the owner will not replace them. So now at least I know the difference. Expensive lesson. The good news is that I found a different supplier who, fortunately has the same understanding of diagonal stitching as I do and has supplied them, at a third less cost and, to be honest, better quality hankerchiefs.

I had a wonderful time with Jean this afternoon in her lovely workroom. I really needed pattern alteration help and her class was marvellous. We (I say we but mostly I watched and learnt) altered my pattern and then I used her great cutting table to cut out my toile. I have tonight to make up and then I’ve booked to go again tomorrow afternoon to do any adjustments that need doing. The room is so lovely and light and airy. There were plenty of machines to use and as an added bonus cake and drinks. I can’t think of a nicer way to spend an afternoon. Thank you
