A good service! The pre-sale process was simple, and they were very communicative during the actual work by clearly explaining and documenting all the services that were included in the quote and getting approval for services outside the initial scope of work. Sadly, it was a terrible year for rain, and so we needed to work together to get things finalized - but one cannot control the weather. My property looks great and the drainage is fantastic. All in all, a good service from a good company.

I experienced some serious flooding in the basement of my house in Bolton-ouest. Based on a recommendation of a friend, I called Groupe Expert Drains (GED) to diagnose and evaluate the problem. They came in late summer 2023, and after some excavation in certain locations around the foundations, they determined that the old French drain around my house was completely and irremediably blocked. They recommended the complete removal of the existing French drain and instalation of a new one. The major challenge was that I have a large deck in front of the house and an even larger one on the rear of the house. GED explained that they have the capability to build French drains without removing ground-level balconies and decks. Since the removal and rebuilding of my decks would have involved a great expense and great inconvenience and a long time with a different set of contractors, I opted for the strategy proposed by GED to dig under the decks and build the drainage system that way. Because of their work schedule and the beginning of winter, it was decided to delay the start of the work to April 2024. A GED team arrived after giving my some warning, and it happened to be quite a wet rainy period. They worked steadily through some quite inhospitable weather, and did so in a respectful way, informing me regularly of the progress and next steps. There were some unexpected challenges, apart from the weather, including that par of the terrain was solid r4ock. They brought in the equipment that was needed for that challenge in addition to the regular excavation machinery. The team was headed by Jonathan, and for the most part, it was the same workers who stayed on the project from beginning to end. When a worker could not come because of an unavoidable problem, Jonathan had others in reserve that he was able to call on. I found the team to be highly professional in their tasks and respectful in their communications. They were always ready to listen to my comments or questions. While there was an initial contract that specified the tasks, there had to be some modifications en route to accommodate unforeseen problems. These were handled professionally. Despite the challenging weather and some unforeseen obstacles, the project was completed in good time. The only issue that required some "correction" was the grass lawn that needed to be repaired after the extensive digging around the house. GED subcontracted this to a hydro-seeding company and it turned out that the first round of hydro-seeding left many blank areas in the lawn. Consequently the hydro-seeding company had to return to do a second round, which has produced a satisfactory lawn. It has now been five months since GED completed the project, and there has been no evidence of any moisture seeping through the foundations into the house.
