Hello ! This is a long awaited review as I’m posting it 8 months later .. Second time visiting here after a week my nails separated from the hard gel. When I called to go in and fix it they booked me in for next day. I showed up at my appointment and they couldn’t find the appointment & said there was an error. Also told me to come back later that day and fixing it would be on them.. but they’re the ones who messed up in the first place?? When you pay over 100 for a manicure it shouldn’t be breaking and separating from the nail less then a week later. I show back up later that day and they tell me they can’t do the French on the nails (which I had done the week prior) because they don’t have time.. at this point I get mad because I earlier they had seen I had French & they also seemed annoyed that I very clearly needed a new set because they weren’t done right the first time. I still tipped the girl who did it 30$ because she did a good job & it wasn’t even the girl who messed them up before. Another time she didn’t do the electric file which I booked and paid for. You can’t tell me she didn’t see it because it’s right there on the booking plus it’s extra money and it’s very own service. I just paid for it and didn’t say anything. I go back AGAIN for another appointment and I had booked a hard gel, French tip, and a pedicure & scrub and mask. On fresha at the time it only let you punch in French tip once so I did but I also wanted it on my toes. After getting my nails done I told her I wanted French tip on my toes as well. She legit sighed at me rolled her eyes and walked away stomping with attitude.. I don’t speak good French so an English speaking girl came back and said I hadn’t put I wanted French on my toes and she can’t do it because it’s too much time(it’s legit 15 extra minutes) so I explained that on the site you can only input French tip once. She goes and checks and she says ohhh you’re right next time u need to call the salon. She tells me I can take off the scrub and mask and do French tips so I agree. The girl doing my nails is stomping around and sighing & continues rolling her eyes at me. I’m so baffled and now I’m sitting in the pedicure seat & she’s on her phone texting and rolling her eyes and the last thing I feel is relaxed and comfortable like I just said I won’t do the scrub and mask which says it’s also 15 mins on fresha so I don’t get why she’s still throwing a little fit. Throughout the whole pedicure she kept picking up her phone and texting clearly with an attitude. how unprofessional I should be relaxed if I’m paying 200+ to get my nails and toes done. I ended up just saying to her it’s fine don’t do the French and chose a colour. She then proceeds to not give me a scrub or mask or French tip. Was very disappointed in this experience. Other than that they claim to be non toxic & organic but at one point a girl was getting her toes painted and all I could smell was fumes. And previously I noticed their foot mask isn’t even clean non toxic ingredients they’re using the same things as other salons. Only difference is they don’t use acrylic! As a pregnant girl who came here specifically to try and avoid toxic chemicals for my baby this bothered me. This salon has some serious work to do. It markets as a luxury salon and it’s really not. You dont get asked if you want a beverage or anything like that. There’s no hand massages and the pedicures are mediocre at best. None of the workers really seem like they care about their jobs.
I was really looking forward to visiting this nail salon, especially because it’s known for using vegan and chemical-free products, which I truly appreciate. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing — from the moment I arrived until the end of my manicure. The nail technician who attended me barely spoke to me, only saying things like “inside” or “outside” when referring to the lamp. Since it was my first time there, I tried to ask what products she was applying on my nails, but her answers were short and dismissive, like “they’re for nails.” I also pointed out twice that there were spots missing polish, and instead of fixing them properly, she just pushed my hand back toward the lamp. In the end, the manicure was just okay — the polish is uneven, thicker on some nails than others, and I was left with some cuticle skin around my fingers. It’s really disappointing that the attitude of one person can completely ruin a customer’s experience and leave you with no desire to return.
This is the only salon I will ever go to in Montreal!! I've been coming here regularly since January 2023. The staff is always friendly and kind, the salon and workstations are always clean and spotless, and the quality of the services (I've done both nails and sugaring) is beyond! My nails stay beautiful and intact for weeks, and I always get so many compliments. Kim is truly an artist and executes every single one of my design requests flawlessly, many times even better than the pictures I show her. Plus, I can always have a good chat with her, which always puts me in a good mood. Moreover, everything is vegan and cruelty free, without any compromise on the quality. The high standards at V&O are the reason why I'll keep coming here. Thank you so much for all your work, this place is truly a gem ✨
