Customer experiences
My experience was great here! The staff member at the front desk was so sweet and friendly. They were very punctual and my masseuse Erika was amazing, managed her time perfectly and really tailored the massage to areas I wanted to focus more on.
Been going here once a month and I love it. Staff is so friendly and calming. Get Simon for massages because he is the best. They also have free chocolate at the front counter.
Since the RMT I’ve been seeing for 5 years closed their practice, I’m trying new places near me. This is an OK massage place, but having had better experiences at several other places, here are a few reasons why I won’t return: 1 - I arrived 10 mins early, but the RMT only called me in 4 minutes after the massage was supposed to start. I don’t mind if they are late and extend the service to account for their tardiness, but the massages are usually under 1 hour and it is annoying when your massage is cut short because the RMT was late. 2 - I didn’t think the RMT really listened in the initial consultation. Usually the RMT will ask follow up questions or engage in conversation, but as I explained my muscles of concern, I didn’t think they really listened. I explained I have tendon issues near my ankle and I would like them to focus on this area and they did not even ask which ankle. (See #4 for why this is annoying) 3 - I had my massage in the first room to the right. It was a double bed room even though I was one person, which was fine, but I noticed the carpets were quite stained and dirty and tattered especially near the massage bed. I wanted to take pictures for the review at the end of the massage, but per #5, the room was pitch black at the end of the massage and the photo wasn’t possible. 4 - the RMT did not focus on where I explained I have issues. I’m not sure if they didn’t understand in the consultation, but I didn’t find any particular focus was given on the specific areas I mentioned. This is upsetting since you can only get so many massages covered with insurance and to waste one away when you need it because the RMT did not focus on the main area you asked them to sucks. 5 - the room was pitch black at the end of the massage and the RMT left the room without changing the dimmer and giving the room a bit more light. I literally could not see anything and had to rummage through my bag to try to find my phone to use its flashlight to just see my things and get dressed. If you had any vision or mobility issues, it would be genuinely challenging to walk from the bed to the chair and see your things and get dressed. 6 - there was no consultation after the massage. At every single other massage place I’ve been before, the RMT talks about the service and which muscles they noticed needed extra care and usually offers a few stretches to do to improve pain/tightness in those areas. 7 - they do not do direct billing to insurance. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but every other massage place I’ve been to does do direct billing. I would also like to add that the 2 people working the front desk were extremely kind.
I really wanted to love this place, it's so close to where I live. Before booking, I spent 20 minutes on the phone with the receptionist, clearly outlining what I needed: someone gentle, knowledgeable, not salesy; a focus on extractions; and extra care due to my super sensitive skin. She confidently recommended someone, and I trusted her. This was my self-care moment for the week. I arrived early, filled out the forms, and waited about 25 minutes before I was called in. The specialist was kind and personable, but immediately started upselling me — even though I had specifically asked not to be sold to. Midway through the treatment, I agreed to a hydration facial. Only then did I find out the steamer — a critical part of any extraction facial — was broken. No one had mentioned this when I booked, when I arrived, or during the 10 minutes I spoke with the specialist before we started. I had made it clear multiple times how easily my skin reacts and how crucial it was to proceed with care. Without the steamer, the extractions were incredibly painful. My skin felt like it was being torn. By the end, when she applied cooling gels, my face felt like it was on fire. I was told “a little stinging is normal” — but this wasn’t that. Five days later, my face is still red, inflamed, and peeling. I’m breaking out in ways I never have before, especially around the nose and chin where the extractions were most aggressive. Moisturizer burns. My skin barrier is clearly completely compromised. What’s most frustrating is how avoidable this all was. I’m tired of places not being upfront about things that materially affect your service. I don’t think it’s fair that customers are left dealing with the consequences — especially when we’re expected to tip generously regardless of the outcome. I appreciated that the staff were kind and refunded me — but honestly, I wish I hadn’t gone. A $100 refund doesn’t undo the damage. Had someone simply told me the steamer wasn’t working, I never would have gone through with it. This experience was everything I feared it would be, and now I'm left paying the price.
