We trailer our boat her frequently and love the new lot and facilities. 4 stars because the yearly boat ramp pass is insanely expensive, people without trailers are still taking up trailer parking, and there are no lights near the dock so getting off the water in pitch black (considering the cost to use the launch), is a nuisance. Otherwise, staff is wonderful and their fuel price is extremely reasonable. We have been launching here for at least 5 years.
This is the second time coming to Heritage Harbor. We stayed at ZuZu Petals this time. While the inside of the home was updated and mostly clean, the outside was terrible. I picked this home for the view of the river. We could not enjoy the view from the two porches because they were covered in old cob webs and insects, even the screened in area. It looked like they had never been cleaned. We had to use an entire can of Raid to step foot in the screened in porch. The front is overgrown and the back area by the river had overgrown bushes that blocked the stairs and had wasps nests. I informed the staff at the welcome center and asked if they could atleast have maintenence come and remove or spray the wasps which was never done. While the interior was clean (even though there were dirty sheets left in the washing machine) the outside looks like it has never been touched especially compared to how well kept the other homes are. I also do not recommend the restaurant. We had to fight swarms of flies inside and was even given a fly swatter by the waitress. There were also dead flies all over the floors and windows. It was difficult to eat while keeping away the bugs and the actual food was terrible and pricey. It was also advertised that there is an outdoor bar and entertainment which there was none and the outdoor bar was not open at all. It was mid week but if you are selling this as a service it should be available regardless if the resort was crowded or if it was mid week. I do have to say the marina staff were wonderful. The pools that were available were nice but the older ones are really needing maintenence. There are cracks and one even has a railing missing. When we checked out I asked about why maintenence never came regarding the wasps nests I was told they ordered the service but that really did us no good since we are now leaving and no apology or compensation was offered. Place is great and the concept is awesome but these areas need to be addressed.
We've rented houses at heritage Harbor for many years, the first several years in the same house which served our family well. Unfortunately the owners never upgraded anything, and eventually the place looked worn down, the mattresses weren't comfortable, etc. We like staying on the west side of the harbor where the owned houses are, most of them have attached garages renters can use, and the houses tend to have nicer upgrades and are decorated more comfortably (more lamps, softer lighting for example). The most recent house we rented called Zuzu's pedals in the newer section on the east side was large enough for our family with 3 separate bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, an outdoor deck upstairs and a covered screened in patio downstairs, both with amazing views of the river, a functional kitchen with plenty of dishware and utensils along with a washer / dryer unit upstairs and downstairs which was nice. The master bedroom upstairs had zero blinds or window coverings over the sliding glass doors, so sleeping in was a no go. The tvs in the bedrooms were locked with a password and unusable. Maintenance came the first day but didn't get a code to us until the last day (which didn't work). The lighting is pretty industrial for the most part. We like the marina and their staff very well. The HH staff where you check in is not well trained and don't understand that their job is to provide service to customers (it shouldn't take 15 minutes to check in while you wait for someone to find a pool key when there are clearly several hanging from a board behind him).
