I’ve been considering making a review for a few months now, and unfortunately I’m still not over my experience at this salon. The first photo is my hair before visiting Heroic. I don’t usually use heat and color it maybe twice a year. I wanted to get to a more neutral brown, as I tend to get coppery in between colors. I had a consultation so the stylist understood what I’ve been doing with my hair, what color was currently on it, and how much hair I have, because there’s a lot. I was quoted between $200-300. The last two photos are after my “color correction” and two step hair color. I left the salon after a 8 hour appointment and paying $469 with green, stripey hair that felt like hay. My hair was my confidence, my favorite feature. 5 months later it is still frizzy, dull, rough, and uneven in color - even after multiple treatments (from other salons). I’m leaving this review as a cautionary tale. If you have long, colored hair and don’t want to do the big chop, stay as far away as possible.

I've just moved to the Ames area from a different state and was in need of meeting a new, hair stylist. I've been going to my previous hair stylist for over 5 years and was terrified to go to a new place. I searched online and found Heroic Hair salon. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed a fun and relaxing type of environment. I was able to get my hair professionally done by my hair stylist named Tarrah Holdredge. She is super sweet, flexible with schedules, and can I say TALENTED? I made an appointment to dye, retouch/restyle, and treat my hair. After going to Tarrah, I didn't want to go to any new stylist since she did everything so well!

Tarrah did a full foil color on my hair and I am in love with it. She spent 10 minutes talking to me and asking questions to be sure she understood what I wanted. She then gave me a price estimate so I didn't have e sticker shock afterwards. If I could give her 10 stars instead of 5, I would. My hair turned out exactly like I envisioned, only better! Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Tarrah!

I’ve been going to Sierra for body waxing, and seriously, she’s the best! Super friendly, kind, and always makes me feel totally comfortable. It’s not always easy to relax during a wax, but she makes it feel like no big deal. The whole vibe at Heroic Hair is awesome too. Everyone’s welcoming, and the place just has great energy. If you’re thinking about getting waxed, go see Sierra!
