The Man at the Front Desk is Wonderful and The best part of this hotel. You are lucky to have him. Now for the negative...First we had a suite with a pull out couch and the mattress had mold on it. No blankets or sheets-had to ask for them. No pillows available, used some from king bed. 3 live huge spiders in bath tub in room that we had to kill. Room just felt old, smelled musty, and just didn't feel clean. AC in room with pull out couch blowing hot air. Overall a bad experience. Would never stay there again.

Great stay - large suite. The older man at the front desk was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. One of the best check-in experiences I have ever had. Did not use the pool or hot tub because we were too tired. The small town with the small modern movie theater was a huge surprise. We really enjoyed our stay here.

The room had a terrible smell every time you opened the door. I sprayed the room multiple times a day and yet the smell returned every day. Even after housekeeping the room continued to smell. The hotel overall did not smell right so felt no need to change rooms. Wasn't much options in Grinnell so I stayed and sprayed. Smoke detector was hanging from ceiling wrapped in a plastic walmart bag. I choose and pay for a fitness center. The treadmill and eliptical were old and out dated. The treadmill did not even have a functioning incline. I will not recommend or return. Willing to drive extra miles and have different options. So for this is second Choice hotel brand that I will never revisit. Also the key card was ridiculous. It worked half the time and you had to be quick to grab handle or wait again for it to work. I had to have it reset and got housekeeping to let me in once and carry both keys to see if one would work when the other wouldn't. Tub looked dirty. Shower head disgusting. A half roll of toilet paper and never brought more.

We stayed here one night. Outside of hotel the landscape needs attention as do front doors. Very pleasant staff at front desk. Room was ok and clean but dated. The hot breakfast items looked unappealing so we settled for cereal and yogurt. The coffee was not great and the machine was overfilling the small cups. All in all not a terrible experience for the price but lots of room for improvement. We've stayed with this chain before with much better experiences.
