We take our lab at least once every other week during spring and summer. Great to keep her social. Depending on her activity. More often fall and winter. Staff is always friendly and Kona greets them with wagging tail showing she's always happy to go in!
I adopted Tucker (Journey) from the richmond SPCA when I was volunteering there. He had been returned two or three times. He didn’t know how to walk on the leash and I could tell he was poorly socialized. He had severe leash reactivity, barrier aggression, and fear aggression. He had bit a few people including myself and I was very nervous taking him out of the house. We were able to barely scrape by pet-smart basic obedience training and I could tell he was very smart. From there I tried every type of harness and collar. I spent thousands of dollars on a behavior therapist and anxiety meds. My amazing dog walkers from Barksley in Richmond helped me make sure he had long walks every day. All of these things helped but progress was very slow and at some point we hit a wall. I discovered k9 and company via word of mouth from a very close friend. He knew a dog named Gunner had gone through k9 & company retreat’s 2 month boot camp and was a completely different dog afterward. I was extremely skeptical, but this first hand account made me want to try it. They quoted me a flat rate and then had Tucker for two months. When Mark brought him back: he could walk great on a leash with no pulling and I was taught how to keep him from reacting with distractions. He was far better socialized with dogs, and his separation anxiety was gone. He loves his crate now and goes in it easily. All of his obedience commands are better with distractions. The day after I got him back and trained with Mark I was able to get within ten feet of a poodle at pet smart and put him in a down stay. No barking. No lunging. No hairs standing up his back. No more pills. We will continue with k9 and company training and socialization because it works. My dog walker (Barksley) immediately noticed a huge difference and my dog Tucker has never been a happier ( : Thanks Mark and the whole k9 and company team for everything you did for us!!
I can’t thank you enough for the help. Spike has behaved well since you trained him. No more incidents. Great place to take your dogs for boarding and training. Thanks a lot for everything! Highly recommend!
