A classic country cabin. No frills. Well equipped for self service. The Hart family runs a solid business in the heart of one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Honest review - River Trail Cottages exceeded their ad and I would stay here again any time. Not only were they kind, respectful, and incredibly accommodating, but they also provided more than what was expected of a cottage/Airbnb. The location was easy to find, clean, and perfect for a family stay. Despite arriving the first day far later than our expected arrival time, they allowed us entry into the cottage and payment in the morning. They provided us an unexpected discount for the 3 bedroom house because our family could not attend and we were left with just myself and my husband staying, therefore resulting in a cheaper rate and overall better stay for our first time in Cape Breton. We were visited by their lovely dog who stopped for some pets and continued on her way, which we appreciated greatly before starting our hike. River Trail Cottages is an excellent choice for your stay in Cape Breton, whether as a family or as a couple, and you will not be disappointed.
My girlfriend and I stayed at one of the cottages for 3 nights in August 2021. We had such a great stay, and enjoyed chatting with the owners. The cottage was very clean, and well equipped with dishes, fridge, freezer, TV, and even a barbecue on the deck! Highly recommended staying at River Trail Cottages. We will definitely be back again! It is a perfect location for being close to practically everything around the Cabot Trail.
Stayed here for one week in August. Rented a one bedroom cottage that was comfortable and well equipped. Everything was clean and in good repair. The cottage had a full kitchen and a barbeque on the porch. The location offers a location for those interested in outdoor pursuits. The property is well situated for salmon fly fishing . There are trails on the property that lead to the river. We spoke with return visitors who also visit during the winter for snowmobiling. The owners are friendly and Edsel is knowledgeable regarding fly fishing in the area. The cottages are located in a quiet, rural location which isn't far from the Cabot Trail and the Dancing Goat (highly recommended). There are several spots in the area where items made by local artisans are available as well. Baddeck is within easy striking distance and is a worthwhile day trip. Would recommend this location as it is close to the Cabot Trail but offers an opportunity to experience rural Cape Breton.
