Kent Home Services did an amazing job replacing our driveway. From tear-out to final cleanup, the crew worked fast, professionally, and with great attention to detail. They even went above and beyond by helping me install new drain tile, which wasn’t part of the original plan. The new driveway looks fantastic, and the property was left spotless. Huge thanks to the crew for their hard work—I highly recommend Kent Home Services!

I am a certified concrete inspector with both the American concrete institute and Michigan concrete association. I inspect concrete placement for MDOT and other Midwest DOT. I would not recommend the residential services. I have seen their trucks at commercial sites in Grand Rapids, Amway and new amphitheater and cannot speak to their adherence to best practices when being watched and $$$ is on the line. You’ll see in the photos that in some areas they did not place expansion board, they used a foam board where they did, and left large, up to 1/2 inch gaps, between existing structures and new concrete and somehow managed to leave a nonlinear edge from my walkway meeting with the city sidewalk. On top of that, despite being assured by their salesman that they’d apply a cure compound, they did not. Repeatedly they offered an admixture instead, which I declined, when I asked for curing methods. What they offer is an admixture to repel water. Fun fact, the product data sheet states intraseal is NOT a cure admixture but it will make the concrete so hydrophobic so quickly, a water/wax based cure compound will not be effective. As stated above I was assured they would apply a cure compound. In the end, I had to buy my own, and sign a waiver because as they said, it will come out “blotchy”. I understand why they would say that because the admixture they push states in the product data sheet waterborne curing compounds are not recommended due to the concrete becoming hydrophobic and blotching will occur. Ultimately I applied it myself and the photos prove it has a uniform appearance. Without any testing on the concrete, denied a copy of the job mix formula, and not given truck tickets I can at least know the concrete was cured properly. After looking over some of the other negative reviews, I have a feeling their issues are from improper curing of the concrete. Water evaporated from the concrete to quickly not allowing the concrete to achieve its potential strength.

My driveway was installed by Kent home services four years ago, and like others have posted, it is slowly crumbling more and more every year (called delamination, or scaling). They told me this is simply due to salt road salt (I’ve never used salt on my own driveway), which is completely illogical because every driveway in the city would look like this. After having them come out and look at it they decided they would not cover it because it’s out of their very limited one year warranty. I provided them with research that shows this should never happen, even when a driveway is exposed to road salt, the only reason it would happen is poor concrete mix or finish work (see first photo). If you are OK rolling the dice on whether or not they will do quality work on your particular driveway, go for it. But just know they will not standby their work beyond one year and you will have paid many thousands of dollars for a driveway that will slowly crumble away.
