Great place for breakfast. My favorite dish is the Cote Nord. The dish is served with cream cheese but you can upgrade it to goat cheese, which I highly recommend if you like goat cheese. The french style of soft scrambled eggs is delicious with their bread and potatoes. If you love garlic, you’ll love how they serve roasted garlic mixed into the potatoes. Atmosphere wise, it’s quite packed inside and if you have a larger group you may end up waiting a while but usually when you are a party of 2, the wait is not very long.
A very popular cafe in Berkeley. I liked the French toast more than the blueberry pancakes. And the ratatouille (a lunch menu item) is surprisingly good. Goes well with the spicy lamb sausage.
Dishes to Order: Cote Ouest. Pancakes need work. A popular brunch spot with a long line usually out the door. The gist is that their food while tasty and creative is on the more expensive side with brunch plates that offer only sweet or only savory unless you get add-ons. Service can be slow, especially when the restaurant is crowded, so be prepared to wait Their main draw for me was their lemon gingerbread pancakes with poached pears, but for a full stack (3 pancakes), we only received four small poached pear slices that weren't very flavorful and their pancakes were dry, lacking the lemon taste. We also had their Raspberry, Blueberry compote and we don't recommend paying the extra $3.50 for the small amount. However, I will note that the best dishes are their savory plates. The roasted garlic that comes with their home fries tasted phenomenal, and I did appreciate the Emmental cheese that came in the omelettes. Per most restaurants, staff are friendly and came to refill water frequently, but still felt the meal was lacking.
A little slice of France in Berkeley! This has quickly become one of our favorite brunch spots in the Bay Area—10/10 would recommend! The food is absolutely amazing, with every dish bursting with flavor and finesse. The coffee? It comes in a cup so large, you could probably share it with a friend (though I doubt you’d want to—it’s that good!). The ambiance is charming and unmistakably French, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a leisurely brunch. And the staff? Incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the warm and welcoming vibe. If you’re looking for a brunch spot that delivers on taste, atmosphere, and service, this is it. We can’t wait to come back for more!
