I reached out to LeadingRE companies of the world, which touts themselves as only representing local, independent real estate brokerages. They told me that my company could not be considered because they already had 4 companies in my local market. I accepted that fact as it seemed fair; however, when I looked at who the 4 companies were, one of them was a National Franchise. I sent them the Wikipedia page that stated that this company was a “national franchise” and then heard nothing back from them at all. I reached out again by email and still heard nothing back. I decided to call and see if I could get a further explanation and the person on the phone told me, “the team that handles that must have made a determination that they are allowed”. So I asked politely if I could speak to someone on that team for further explanation. She replied “No, they’ve made their determination and what you’ve been told is the final answer”. I asked again, “do you specifically know why they were allowed in when they are a franchise?” She told me “no I don’t but the team spends a lot of time qualifying brokerages”. So I politely said, “okay, so if you have a team that handles that, there must be someone I can talk to just to further help me understand it. She then replied “no, the decision is final.” To be fair and honest, I don’t know how they treat their employees and I don’t know how they treat their members once you are accepted so they may be amazing once that happens. This review is specifically about my experience trying to get more information about helping my locally owned independent brokerage.
