JakeAbsolutely fab! We were so gutted when this first closed as it was our “go to”. Now it’s back and better than ever. Took a while to return as we’ve been busy but making up for loss time and each visits been great. Can’t beat the 2 or 3 course deal and really enjoyed the breakfast! Let’s not overlook the service either. Gerda has been so lovely, funny and helpful. We strongly recommend anyone dining in Newport to come here!
Angela WPopped in for a quick lunch with a wheelchair for my mum. The welcoming was charming and helpful trying to deal with the chair. Service was quick, friendly and professional. The food was okay. Camembert, can't go wrong. Salmon and cod fishcakes hadn't seen much salmon but they were nice. Not keen on the plate up though. In a dish, looked very pretty but a pain to eat from. The disappointment came at the end, I was shocked that they did not accept cash! The server told me they advertise as being cashless and there is a sign at the entrance. (All the faff with the wheelchair didn't even notice sign) Covid is over, I think it is absolutely unreasonable to expect everyone to pay by card. I was so surprised that I didn't noticed they had automatically added 10% to the bill.
Cherry LauThat’s the worst pasta I’ve ever had and we waited for one hour for that oily pasta. We ordered two king prawns pasta, one calamari and two drinks. They served the drinks and calamari quite quickly but then we waited for one hour after finishing the starter. We of course asked where is the pastas, and we can see the kitchen from our table, the server came back and say they’re redoing it. I was like really? After one hour you still need to redo it. They offered another drink on the house but we were just so hungry that we only wanted the food. Then two pasta looked different when they serve it, my friend’s one, the prawns looks more like grilled. I tried both of them, they both are completely tasteless, we had to add salt ourselves. Then the pasta is so soft that I wouldn’t even call it pasta. I was so hungry that almost finish my plate even though it tasted so bad. But then I saw the oil at the bottom, look at the picture, it’s all OIL! My friend’s plate doesn’t look like that. At the end, we got asked do we want to wrap our food up and the service charge wasn’t taken off, so yeah £57 in total.
haley jacksonWe came to have a meal the restaurant was mostly empty, the starters were great calamari and Camembert the seafood pasta was tastelessness and incredibly spicy. The desserts were not great the crème brûlée tasted of scrambled egg and burnt sugar and the Eton mess was not great quality. The cocktails were also not great tasting either. Overall a 50/50 meal
