I approached Macush Law during a difficult time while on income assistance, seeking professional help with an inheritance matter. Initially, I felt heard and understood — they agreed to assist me, and I was confident they recognized the financial challenges I was facing. However, despite my limited income and a clear explanation of my circumstances, Macush Law maintained a very strict bi-weekly billing cycle. I asked them to consider my financial limitations, especially given the nature of the assistance they were providing, but they declined. This left me in a difficult and unsustainable position. What was particularly frustrating was that my final invoice did not appear to take into account the retainer I had already paid. As a result, I ended up being billed over and above the original retainer, which I believe is unreasonable under any circumstances — especially given my financial situation. Ultimately, I had to find another lawyer who works with standard, more flexible fees and has been genuinely helpful. Based on my experience, I would not return to Macush Law in the future.
