Madison County Chamber of Commerce

We made our way into Winterset as our launch point for the Bridges of Madison County. The staff here is super friendly and knowledgeable. They pointed out some absolute gems on the town square that surrounds the Madison County Courthouse, including The Bakery Unlimited for donuts & coffee, the Winterset Mural where you can take some pictures in themed murals, Quest Haven Books & Comics for our nerdy sons, some shopping spots, and Urban Plate for an amazing lunch. They then recommended that we head to Winterset City Park to see the Cutler-Donahoe Covered Bridge and Clark Tower, both of which were beautiful. While I wish we could have seen more, we made our way to the Holliwell Covered Bridge, Roseman Covered Bridge, Cedar Covered Bridge, and Hogback Covered Bridge. They did not disappoint! Lastly, they recommended we visit the Covered Bridges Winery where we had some surprisingly good tastings and snacks. It was a full day and we appreciate all of the spots that the staff here recommended.

Hands down the best Visitor Center we have ever been to, and we live full-time on the road in our rv. We left this one with a wealth of information, and I like to think, a couple of new friends. We laughed, we learned, we had an amazing time. We left Winterset with a tinge of sadness in our hearts because we were leaving, but also with dreams of the next time we visit. Thank you for making our stay in your slice of heaven so wonderful!

Excellent resource in Winterset! Sells great souvenirs. You can book 1:1 tours of the area. Excellent value for money. Staff have great knowledge. Very helpful in assisting me to plan my trip from yhe UK
