Alexander WoodI recently acquired a '91 Range Rover Classic from a private seller. On the test drive it had seemed fine, but after a couple of hundred miles the automatic gearbox was rough. Shifts were jerky, it vibrated, acceleration was poor, and selecting reverse would stall the engine. I had started thinking about a full gearbox overhaul (about £1,500). McDonald Automotive said "A flush would probably help" - but just draining and refilling with oil only changes about 40% of the oil. So my car was squeezed into a busy schedule for the job, and the flushing machine was plumbed into the gearbox oil cooler circuit, and left to do it's job. Over 50 years or so, I've rebuilt many engines, manual gearboxes, steering and suspension systems, preferring to do as much of my own mechanics as possible. When I drove my car home, I was truly astounded at the difference the flush had made. I wouldn't have believed it possible. It felt like a new car. I would thoroughly recommend this service to any automatic gearbox owner.
