Wonderful experience here at MEC Kelowna. I just recently bought a gravel bike for bikepacking - as a newbie to this, I had tons of questions and concerns, all of which were answered thoroughly by Connor and Austin from the bike shop. These gentleman helped answer all of my questions and made recommendations to have a better setup on my bike. They each took the time to walk me through recommended products tailored to having a positive bikepacking experience. Thanks you gentlemen!

Kudos to Connor and Rob. I went in looking for shoes, but instead bought my dream bicycle. Not only did they manage to get me a deal, they also set it up for me, provided some great maintenance tips and a week later called me to see how it was going. I will definitely be returning.

I’m genuinely conflicted writing this review. Over the past several weeks, I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in the store while preparing for upcoming travel. Unfortunately, my overall experience has been disappointing. Many of the staff I’ve interacted with appeared disinterested, inexperienced, and slow to assist, which made the process unnecessarily frustrating. However, I want to take a moment to highlight one outstanding individual — a young man named Kai. Every time I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with him, my experience has completely shifted. Kai is professional, kind, knowledgeable, and consistently goes above and beyond to help. His level of service stands out in a significant way, and he truly deserves recognition. Whatever he is being paid, it’s not enough. Kai clearly takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about the customers he serves. The five stars I’ve given are solely in recognition of Kai’s exceptional service. Thank you, Kai — your efforts do not go unnoticed.

I had a very disappointing experience at MEC. I bought a bear spray can and was made to sign paperwork in fine print, but the staff never explained what I was signing. Later I found out they do not accept returns, even for unopened products, and they also refuse to take the product back for safe disposal. I was left stuck with a can I could not fly with and had to spend time and money finding a place to dispose of it properly. This is poor customer service and irresponsible for a company that sells hazardous products to tourists while scaring them about bears. MEC should clearly explain all of this before selling bear spray. For now I will be boycotting MEC and taking my business elsewhere.
