Customer experiences
This isn’t great, but not awful. Just mediocre steakhouse kind of place, which is not what the reviews and ratings made me think it would be. I think it’s because it’s conveniently located and near all the hotels and right off the highway and doesn’t suck, the ratings are a bit skewed. Service was fine, everyone was friendly. Got a wrong beer, didn’t want to waste it, but also wasn’t comped anything for the servers mistake. Wild game burger was okay - nothing special, but not bad. Wedge salad was a normal wedge salad - too much dressing for me and could’ve used more bacon or toss in some onion or tomato. I added sirloin to the salad and it was cooked well. The star of the show were the fries and rodeo sauce. Those were delightful.
We stopped here in our way through town. The patio was closed but they opened it up for us and our ESA and even turned the patio heaters on. The first young lady Taily (?) came out and loved on our Dog Tonka. She then bright him a bowl of water. She was personable and my favorite person in Billings by a long shot. The food was amazing and our servers were extremely attentive even though we sat outside.
Rib & Chop House in Billings is excellent! We started with the blue cheese wedge salad — top. Then the three of us shared the 38oz côte de bœuf (ribeye on the bone), which was quite the experience. It came out sizzling on a hot cast-iron pan, and the waiter poured garlic, rosemary, and butter over it tableside — a real showstopper that turned heads for a moment! The aroma was fantastic, and the steak kept cooking at the table so you could get it just how you like it. It came with five sides, all of which were good. For the quality and portion size, the price was also an amazing deal for the three of us. Service was very friendly. The decor could be a bit nicer, but honestly, with food and service at that level, it’s not something to complain about. We came on a Sunday at 5 p.m., and not long after, the place filled up.
You need to remove the elk kabobs from your menu until you can prepare them properly. Would love to share the photos of our second plate after returning the first. Absolutely disgusting grey, fatty meat, and complete with silver skin. 🤮🤮 Whole table lost our appetite and missed out on a fun birthday celebration. Not to mention the famous filet steak order sent back twice. Overcooked, then came back raw. I even had to ask if the cut was a filet which the service never came back to answer. It was thin and wide unlike the typical Filet. 2/5 adult plates were unedible and only 1 person finished their meal after viewing your served elk meat. What an utter disappointment for a bill over $200.
Montana's Rib & Chop House is a steak house.
