Motel 6 Joliet, IL - Chicago - I-55

Do not stay here! Both rooms had the toilet not attached firmly to the floor! Very big safety issue - one of our family almost fell while trying to use it, not to mention the fumes that were entering the room were disgusting! We stopped to spend one night here in July 2025 on a family road trip, getting 2 rooms. We complained to the front desk and asked for our money back that we would not be staying. They offered us a different room, but they didn't seem to see an issue with the room. We had to walk through both rooms with them to show them the issue, and then they had to get a manager on the phone to approve the refund. The originally only wanted to refund one room (with the fumes) so we had to show that the other was also able to be picked up and moved and was not bolted down at all! So, we got our money back except they charged us a cleaning fee because the kids had sat on the bed in the few minutes we were in the room before discovering the toilet issues! Unreal! We were there maybe 10 minutes! The lobby of this hotel looks new and updated. The rooms themselves were very dated as was the outside of the building. The pool was closed for the entire season but website did not reflect that. I'm not sure if I have ever found a hotel so bad that I didn't stay...but this one was that bad. Keep driving - we were heading east so we kept going to Effingham to find a much nicer hotel. I would give this zero stars if it let me.

We have stayed here multiple times, but this may have been our last. While the rooms are updated to have a modern feel, there are just too many inconveniences when staying here. We opened the hide-a-bed to find yellow stains on the sheets. We took them to the front desk and asked for clean ones. Got back to our room to find they'd given us the top sheet, but no bottom sheet, so had to go back for the other. We had reserved the room for 4 people, but we only had three towels in the room, so we had to go back to the desk for that. The eggs at breakfast had big grayish spots throughout (not the flecks of pepper), and there were a lot fewer choices at the breakfast than our previous stay. Not even simple oatmeal or grits were available. I overheard others look and say it wasn't worth trying to eat there and leave. A mistake happened on our bill, which I understand happens, but I was in the lobby 10 minutes trying to check out and it was miserablely hot in there-- others in line mentioned it too -- so that I was sweating at 830 in the morning. It is a convenient location to the interstate, check-in was quick. If you like a very firm bed, the bed was for you.

wonderful room with just the right access. Good Price. Well away from traffic. It felt like a little oasis. Excellent front desk staff. Check was quick and easy. Breakfast was very good. The quiet was helpful for my meditations and prayer and Bible study. Extremely restful time on an extremely challenge trip.
