I just had a procedure done at the ambulatory surgery unit at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. I can't say enough good things about them. From the moment I got there everyone was as kind and helpful as possible. Unlike so many experiences I have had in other hospitals, each person I met asked what they could do for me. No one averted their eyes and hurried along so they wouldn't have to interact. They nursing staff was just outstanding. Each and every one of them! All of them took care to explain everything to me, ask me how I was doing, ask if there was anything they could do to make me more comfortable, etc. In addition to all of these "soft skills" that mean so much to a patient, they were also clearly top-notch professionals. My mother was the head nurse on an intensive care unit, notoriously tough, and I'm sure she would have been proud to call these nurses colleagues. My anesthesiologist, Dr. Popa, was extremely thorough. He asked me many questions, and thoroughly answered many more that I had myself. Honestly, the thing that I was most apprehensive about going into surgery was the anesthesia, as I am well aware that it can be the riskiest part of the procedure. After meeting with Dr. Popa, I had absolutely no doubt that he would take excellent care of me, and he did. My surgeon, Dr. Owen, is simply excellent. I know he is highly skilled, but he is also a great communicator who takes the time to be sure you understand and are comfortable with what he will be doing. The procedure was yesterday, everything went very smoothly and I am home today writing this review with gratitude for the outstanding experience I had there.

I am extremely disappointed with the unprofessional behavior displayed by the head nurse(Patrice) during my recent visit ER DEPARTMENT.Instead of offering assistance and empathy, she was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic courtesy. Her attitude made an already stressful situation even worse. It is unacceptable for someone in a leadership role to treat patients and their families with such disrespect. I expected compassion and support, but was met with arrogance and hostility. Immediate action should be taken to address her behavior to ensure no one else has to endure such poor service.

Everyone on staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable from start to finish. Able to answer all questions and assist with any discomforts I was experiencing. Nurse Practitioner Michael Rohan was a delight and incredibly informative, all the Nurses and even the CT scan staff treated me with much care and made a difficult time all the easier. Excellent job all around

you get one star automatically for charging exorbitant prices (let alone charging at ALL!) for parking. forcing someone visiting a dying family member to pay $8 for under 3 hours is filth — especially when they’re already paying astronomical hospital bills to begin with. every person involved in that decision should be ashamed.
