Customer experiences
Jacques is a lovely human. He helps one to understand and explore different ways something can function and considers how it would best suit you. He was flexible and built a basement kitchenette for me, his design capabilities are to be trusted :)
Jacques is friendly, efficient, and practical. He is easy to deal with and has a keen eye for design. I do not hesitate when recommending him to friends and neighbours. Over the years he has undertaken a number of projects for me, including replacing old-style pot lights with LED fixtures, adding switches and replacing a circuit breaker. He also painted some rooms after replacing their base boards and door trims. Jacques also worked with me to redesign my kitchen, which included removing a wall between it and the family room. In 2020, I decided that it was time for Jacques to replace my 30-year-old deck (33' x 14'). When we met to discuss my plan, I had already purchased over one hundred 12’ composite boards during Rona’s closeout sale and had a sketch showing how I envisioned the deck surface would look. Jacques suggested major changes to my proposed design. These changes made the deck more visually appealing and minimized the number of plank joints. He added a six-foot privacy screen at one end and removed 16’ of railings by designing wrap-around stairs for the lower part of the deck. These changes transformed my DIY design to one I would have expected from a professional. Before starting the project, Jacques created two AutoCAD drawings – one for the deck surface and another for the beams and joists. The drawings helped me understand the extent of the work and the order and timing in which it had to be done. They also accompanied the permit application, ensuring the deck would pass inspection without issue. Jacques always showed up on time and ready for a full day of work whenever weather permitted. I was impressed with his ability to turn potential setbacks (like legacy joists at the wrong location for our new design) into opportunities for improvement. It was a pleasure working with Jacques and I won't hesitate to call on him for our next project. The quality and appearance of the completed deck, as shown in the accompanying pictures, demonstrate Jacques’ capabilities. Jacques helped us install some floating shelves, rehang a pocket door that came off its tracks, and reinstall a towel bar that wasn’t properly secured to drywall. He did a great job, was professional to deal with, and most importantly was communicative and showed up on time. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jacques for your handyman needs.
Jacques is amazing! Not only did he get us out of a major bind when our other contractor failed to show up. He came on his day off and traveled out of town to do it. He took down some old backsplash/drywall and re-drywalled the area prepping our kitchen for new countertops. We now have a new kitchen in time for Christmas thanks to Jacques. Highly recommend. Does great work and provides excellent service.
