My dad (with later stage dementia and recovering from a stay in hospital with aspiration pneumonia ) was given medication that the ‘nurse’ had dropped onto the floor after he has spat it out . She picked it up and put it straight back into his mouth. It all happened too quick for me to stop it . I thought this must have been a mistake on her part but she then proceeded to do it to the second patient who spat hers out also. This was raised with management and I was told it wasn’t good enough on their behalf that the nurse wouldn’t be staying at the home . Only to find a few days later her still to be there administering meds . Many, many occasions dad was given the wrong thickness food /drink and this wasn’t always rectified fully when I’d raised my concerns. I witnessed this a lot with other patients on restricted diets also. Due to his aspiration pneumonia this could have proved deadly. He was struggling more and more as time went by to swallow etc but again this ‘nursing ‘ home would not arrange for a trained specialist to help dad unless I pushed and pushed for it . It shocks me that this is a facility that the NHS send our elderly relatives to. There were several nice staff but the home is poorly managed , I felt the residents were not safe , and often left sitting in their rooms or lounge area with no music /tv. Not enough staff to provide stimulation /company to the patients without visiting relatives . I feel sad that this is where my dads life came to an end …..

Beware of this "care home", they've been pumping raw sewage out of their home into to streams in the local area. The problem has been going on for over a year and they've still not fixed it. The main company has refused to provide me with a senior management contact to try and get the problems fixed. If they don't care about raw sewage being pumped into the local environment, god knows how they treat their residents.

Somehow my Nan with end stage dementia managed to break her femur whilst in bed asleep. Carehome is not telling us what happened atall. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
