My last visit was for my boys annual exam with Dr. Carr. This appointment was nothing short of amazing. The front staff are always so friendly and great to deal with. Dr. Carr will probably always be my favorite vet - she is so caring and pleasant to deal with. So compassionate about the animals she treats and their owners. I will forever be thankful for New Glasgow Vet clinic, especially Dr. Carr for helping to save my dogs life when he got GDV. It's been roughly 5 months since my dogs visit with GDV and she always remembers me and my pup. I'm so fortunate to have an amazing vet clinic that cares for my babies the way I would need someone to 💖 Forever grateful and always have a pleasant experience here. Been dealing with them for at least 7 years and still enjoy it.
Vets and support staff are always polite attentive, knowledgeable and compassionate. I’m so glad they took me and my pack on after moving here. I was a client at my previous place for 10yrs and between the 2 clinics, the transition went smoothly and I’m happy knowing my dogs are in really good hands medically 🐶
This has been a hard summer for me. I have lost two of my precious furry family, and was afraid that may have had to be three. My big boy was successfully treated and recovered quickly after his procedure. The compassion I was showed during these times of loss could not have been better, or appreciated more. The staff here is top notch. Thank you so much!
This clinic is fully staffed with incompetent young veterinarians who have little to no experience. A lot has changed at the clinic once Dr. Rob or Bruce retired. Last year My dog took a bad fall on the ice and started retching, dry heaving and then started doing the downward dog move. I'm not a vet but these are signs of Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV -twisted stomach). He then started crying like he was in pain. This happened on a Sunday which meant we had to call a vet in for an emergency appointment (I'm not going to start posting names of vets). The Vet we had dealt with before and she was great. However she picked up on a heart murmur which was not previously in his file. So she sent us to a specialist in Halifax. After we had to wait for 3 weeks to see them. They had our dog wear a vest for 24 hours, then we had to send the monitor back via courier so they could review the results. What they found was a perfectly normal heart beat which meant an inconclusive finding. (This visit cost us 2K out of pocket). We were then sent to another specialist in Dartmouth crossing a few weeks later. (this visit cost us $1500 out of pocket). Where Luckily we seen a vet who was a Locum and just happened to be there that day. She informed us that our dog never had a murmur. He must of bruised his heart during that fall months ago. She also informed us that most, if not all dogs that get hit by a car. Almost always have a bruise on their heart (A murmur). So they usually recommend a fallow up appointment 4-6 weeks later to check the sound of the heart. All during this time since his bad fall. He started having loose bowel movements. The poor guy couldn't keep anything in. was was just passing through. His stool was very liquefied, Yellowish in colour and had a lot of oils sitting in it. We kept bringing stool samples after stool samples to have sent away. They recommended new low fat foods, Pumpkin additive to his food, keeping him on rice and hamburg for a stretch. Our pup went from 90lbs to 49lbs. In a time frame of March to July. The vet we were seeing, got to the point where she told us "There isn't anything more we can do". This is a veterinarian who simply gave up on us and our dog. Due to this we focused on doing our own research and finally came up with a diagnosis. We determined he had a disease which is very common in German Shepard's. It is known to all properly trained Veterinarians as EPI or Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Simply put his pancreas is unable to break down fats. So we with more research, found a brand known as Pantenex. Which is sold on Amazon for $140 after shipping and taxes. After we gave the first two feedings his stool went back to normal. Yes it happened that fast. After $4700 out of pocket, Did I mention Yes we have pet insurance. We saved our dog without the help of these incompetent, Experience lacking, unremorseful, pusillanimous and dollar driven staff workers because honestly I can't call them Veterinarians. Do yourself a favor and go to a clinic with at least one gray haired vet on staff. Those Grey hairs show years of experience working in one of the most grueling environments.
