Customer experiences
I’ve been to North York General Hospital several times, and it’s one of the most dependable and well-run hospitals in Toronto. The facility is bright, modern, and always clean, with staff who genuinely care about their patients. From registration to discharge, the process is smooth and organized, and the communication between departments feels seamless. The nurses here are excellent — kind, patient, and attentive — and the doctors take time to explain things clearly without making you feel rushed. The emergency department can be busy, but the staff manage it efficiently and professionally. Parking is available on-site, though it can get pricey during longer visits. The cafeteria and waiting areas are comfortable, which helps during longer appointments or family visits. Overall, North York General delivers top-quality care with compassion and professionalism every time.
I’ve visited North York General Hospital several times, and it’s one of the most reliable and well-managed hospitals in the GTA. The facility is clean, bright, and efficiently organized, with staff who genuinely care about their patients. From registration to discharge, things usually run smoothly, and the doctors take time to explain treatment options clearly. The nurses are especially kind and attentive — they manage to stay calm and supportive even when the ER gets hectic. Wait times can be long during peak hours, but that’s typical for a major Toronto hospital. Parking is available right on-site, though it’s on the pricey side. The cafeteria and waiting areas are clean and comfortable, which helps make long visits more manageable. Overall, North York General provides excellent care and a professional, reassuring experience — definitely one of the better hospitals in Toronto.
My mother had a surgery last week and she stayed one night at the Orthopaedics Unit at North York General Hospital. All the nurses and staff from the OR to the Orthopaedics Unit were highly supportive, compassionate, and attentive! My mother received excellent care throughout her stay and was extremely satisfied with the level of expertise of the Orthopaedics Unit staff.
bad experience today at NYGH! I had a CT appointment scheduled today. It's less busy than normal since it's early Sunday morning. When it was my turn, the first tall technician was very nice and professional. After it's all done, another short Asian technician came in. I have to say he's RUDE! He forced me to hold my arm in the air when he rushed to remove the tube and the needle from my arm. I have to use one hand to press the other arm but then I can't get up. Without any words or notice, he just pulled the blanket underneath my body to let me get up, even left the blue blanket/sheet on my body and walked away. I have to leave the room and have no time to continue pressing the arm which causes extra blood to flood out. I was trying to see his name. but he hides his photo ID under the other cards, which I don't know if it's allowed in the hospital. I have been to NYGH many many times in past 3+ years for surgeries, treatments, bloodwork and others. Doctors, nurses and technicians are always nice to the patients. I hope someone can tell this technician how to communicate with patients. His current behaviour is definitely not suitable for working there.
