Customer experiences
Dr. Ousley is one of the best dentists I have ever seen and her staff is incredible. She is very knowledgeable and takes her time to give patients the best care she can. It's crazy to say but I genuinely look forward to my dentist visits.
Best dentist I’ve ever been to, she explained everything she was seeing and what was going on as well as throughly went through the best treatment plan with me. Her staff was just as kind and welcoming as she was, very pleasant experience overall!
This is a review regarding Dr. Ousley's sleep apnea device services. I believe the evidence suggests that Dr. Ousley's office may be engaging in and encouraging aggressive sales tactics that obscure the actual costs to customers of their sleep devices. The short answer is to call your insurance first before going in to see Dr. Ousley. Since they are a dental provider providing a medical device, they will always be considered an out-of-network provider with your medical insurance. Also, since they are providing a medical device, it won't be covered by your dental insurance either. Here's the breakdown. None of the previous information was clearly represented to me as a new customer. I believe that Dr. Ousley's office employs deceptive sales practices to obscure the actual costs you will incur when using their sleep apnea services. I also believe that Dr. Ousley's office uses sales pressure tactics. Here's the support for my claim. First, here are my notes from the initial call with Dr. Ousley's business office: "Consultation - $106 $2800 - full Out of Pocket: $1294 How Long Last - 5-year warranty" Notice that the out-of-pocket expense was represented to me as the only amount I would have been on the hook for. Obviously, I should have been more aware as a buyer. Still, they bear a responsibility to accurately represent the fact that they will be out-of-network, regardless of my insurance. Second, Dr. Ousley and her team create a false sense of urgency by emphasizing that the $106 consultation fee will be rolled into the total fee if you choose to purchase the sleep device from them. I then felt pressured to proceed with the process on the same day as the consultation. Third, Dr. Ousley and her business office said that they couldn't file the claim with my insurance until they had ordered and received the device. This should have been a red flag for me. Nothing was said to me at this time that they knew this would be an out-of-network insurance claim, giving the false impression that my insurance would help cover the costs of the device. I would have paused here if I had known that, since I was aware that my out-of-pocket deductible is $3,000 and the device cost $2,800, meaning I would be responsible for the entire amount. Additionally, she explained the total cost I would incur when I ordered my device that day, $1,294, but again, I left with the understanding that that would be the maximum I would pay out of pocket. I feel that she may have been vague on purpose. Fourth, once the product arrived and I had my first fitting, they called to inform me that my insurance wouldn't cover the second half of the cost for the sleep device. How convenient for them after vaguely implying to me that my insurance would cover up to half of the price. I distinctly remember having a conversation in person with their business representative, and she told me that since they are a dental office selling a medical device, they would be out-of-network. Note that this issue arose after the device was delivered, and I was at my second follow-up appointment. When I said I didn't feel like that was clearly communicated to me from the start, she became defensive. Fifth, when I contacted my medical insurance provider, Cigna, to see if they offered, what Dr. Ousley's office called a "out-of-network exemption", they told me that Dr. Ousley's office should have filed a Network Adequacy Provision prior to purchasing the device for Cigna to consider making the expense in-network since I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Cigna is one of the largest insurers, and I am convinced that Dr. Ousley's office would have already been aware of this; yet, they didn't attempt to do so or communicate clearly with me that this would need to be done. The evidence suggests that Dr. Ousley's office may be engaging in and encouraging aggressive sales tactics that obscure the actual costs to customers of their sleep devices. I hope this helps you!
This was my first visit and I was so nervous. Going to the dentist office has always been traumatic for me. But I was welcomed by a very professional and companionate team. The office is beautiful and I felt right at home. Dr Ousley was very detailed and explained the care I needed for future success. I will be sending my friends and family their way and coming back! Thank you all!
