I’ve been going to Downtown Dental since I was 4 years old. Even though I have seen lots of changes over the last 30 years; from the waiting room, to staff coming and going, everyone has been so kind and inviting. They provide great communication and reminders of appointments, lots of availability, and the paid parking is a plus! I’ve had lots of opportunities to go elsewhere, but I haven’t because it’s just a safe space. Shout out to Rachelle; the best hygienist! - Julie Kivell
I can't recommend this dental office enough. Everyone on staff is knowledgeable, kind and patient. I have really bad anxiety (in general but specifically dental work is hard) and I am eternally grateful for the patience and kindness they've shown me. The hygenists, dentist and specialist all do amazing work and I will never switch offices! Thank you guys!!
I’ve been a patient at this dental office since 2014 and have always appreciated the care I received, especially from Dr. Amato — he is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. However, my past experience left me deeply frustrated and annoyed. I initially booked a cleaning through the online system, but my request was cancelled because the booking was for August 7, 2023, which turned out to be the civic holiday. A couple of day's later I received a call to rebook, which was fine. I explained I needed a cleaning and possibly a checkup. The woman I spoke to booked me in for the next day (August 10, 2023). She asked if I had any concerns, and I mentioned some pressure on my lower left side where I had wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Amato the year before. She repeatedly told me Dr. Amato wouldn’t be available, and I explained multiple times that I didn’t need to see him unless something was wrong. She was not registering what i was saying at all. Why would I need to see him for a cleaning? I told her I can just book an appointment to see him if I need to while I'm in the office for my appointment tomorrow. Still, she had to “ask permission” to allow me to book a follow-up in person if needed, which was very confusing. Why would I book an appointment with the dentist before the checkup? It didn't make any sense to me. The next day, I arrived and went straight in for an x-ray. The dentist and hygienist were great, and I was relieved the x-ray came back fine. However, after the exam, I asked about my cleaning — only to be told I wasn’t booked for one. The hygienist went to the front desk with me and explained I should have been scheduled for a cleaning. A woman who I believe was the manager, very rudely said (right in front of me), “No, she didn’t book a cleaning and she was told it wasn’t available. She misunderstood and that’s her problem.” Then she smiled at me when she realized I heard her. I calmly explained that I absolutely did not misunderstand — I came specifically for a cleaning and was told I could also have a checkup. After a moment of back and forth, she realized the mistake was on their end. To top it off, I was charged for an “emergency visit.” There was no emergency — I booked for a routine cleaning and checkup. I tried to give them another chance and booked a cleaning for December 12, 2023. I never got my usual reminder, so I called in — only to be told there was no appointment in the system. Extremely frustrating. Then, in December 2024, I received a text confirming an appointment for December 12, 2024 — not 2023. That was the final straw for me. I explained my experience and let them know I would no longer be returning. Now today (June 23, 2025), I receive a message saying I’m overdue for a cleaning. At this point, I can only assume they don’t keep accurate records or communicate internally. This has been such a disappointing experience from an office I once trusted. Again, Dr. Amato is amazing, but the management and front desk experience has completely changed for the worse. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve, but I will be seeking care elsewhere moving forward.
