Terrible customer service. My experience with origin (who I’m with not by choice, I live in an apartment building) has entailed chasing up my own bill that is meant to automatically come to me on a 3 month cycle, and my questions of “why did my bill not come in?” after it had been 5 months past my last bill being ignored by the person I was emailing. I received AI-like responses and barely got any clarification. I had to get my building management involved, and THEY finally got me some answers. I was told multiple times it’s my fault I didn’t get a bill because I didn’t read my own meter, keeping in mind that the meters for my building are locked up and only accessible from building management. My bill comes to me every 3 months automatically, and has for nearly 2 years, but all of a sudden it’s my fault! The person on the phone was absolutely dismissive and SO rude after I was fighting to get a god forsaken bill for a weeks. If I had a choice I’d immediately switch electricity companies. I’ll never choose origin once I’m out of this apartment complex. Absolutely 0 regard for customer care. Never thought I’d be the one fighting to pay a bill but here we are, Origin has done it for me. Then, when I finally did send through a meter read just to get a bill, (apparently there was absolutely no other option) money disappeared from my account without any actual bill listed. That’s so helpful! I love when my money is taken and the bill is still not listed after weeks of fighting for it! Thanks for making things unbelievably harder than they needed to be Origin.

AVOID! This company is a DISASTER. This company kept sending us disconnection threat letters for our hot water because we supposedly hadn’t created an account or paid. GUESS WHAT? We had already paid and we did have an account. It turns out the company made a mistake and connected our account to the wrong meter. Because of that, we had to create a new account and PAY THE BILLS AGAIN (the new bills showed up the next day — super fast when they want you to pay). Obviously, they owed us a $300 refund for the account we had already paid that wasn’t even ours. They said the refund would be processed within 5 days. Today, two weeks later, THEY ARE DENYING THE REFUND. Customer service over the phone is a mess every time I call, I have to explain the whole situation again. This is so exhausting

I have never been with Origin before, always opting for more ethical and cheaper gas companies. Now I'm forced to go with them due to an apartment contract and wow, they are absolutely terrible. Origin is one of those massive corporations that is so big that they act like a government agency. Every other gas company I've been with has answered the phone straight away when you sign up, because they want the business. Origin is so big they don't even care about your business. The sign up process should take minutes from the moment you call to the moment everything is sorted out. Instead with Origin, you'll have to take several hours out of your day. The website doesn't work well and I have attempted about five calls. Been on hold for very long shifts waiting to get through to literally give them my business. I highly recommend Momentum Energy. They are one of the good ones that I've been with.

I’ve had to follow up multiple times just to get basic updates, which shouldn’t be necessary. It feels like customers are not a priority at all. Reliable communication is essential for an energy provider, and unfortunately this company falls well below expectations.
