She helped me write messages for several cards and was incredibly patient when I made a mistake on one of them. Instead of making me feel rushed, she immediately offered solutions and suggestions that made my cards even better (even offering a purple pen to match my card!). Right after I thanked you for your help, you turned to your coworker, thinking that I wouldn't be able to see, and made a face like I couldn't be any more stupid. English isn't my first language. I know I'm still struggling. But It took me a while to even get to this point. And I had just finished an additional early morning shift to afford the gift for someone dear to me. Did you stop to think why I had trouble comprehending? With that immature gesture of yours, you have succeeded in stripping me of the little sense of belonging I had as an immigrant. Had I known that I would be unwelcome at your establishment, I would have never set foot. I hope your other customers do not face such condescending attitude. Maybe they wouldn't have to if they happen to fit your narrow view of eligible customers worthy of respect. For those needing to visit a Paper Source store, I highly recommend the one by Union Square. It is the opposite of this place -- they brainstorm with you on gifting methods, give you advice on the alternatives, and go out of their way to meet your needs. It's a lot bigger too.
