This review is not about the pen but the company. I recently purchased a Visconti Van Gogh Fountain Pen for $241, a significant investment for me and certainly not the kind of purchase I make lightly. As a first-time customer, I was genuinely excited to experience the quality and craftsmanship that this brand is supposedly known for. That excitement lasted about ten seconds. The pen arrived with the nib already full of ink, a clear sign that it had been used before reaching me. On top of that, the body had multiple visible scratches, something that is completely unacceptable for a product sold as new. At this price point, even the box should be flawless, which also bared signs of use, let alone the pen itself. What’s most frustrating is the feeling that my trust was taken advantage of. As a new customer, I expected honesty, care, and respect. Instead, I received a product that looks like it was pulled from a return pile and passed off as untouched. It’s disheartening, and frankly embarrassing, that a company would allow something like this to happen. If this is how they think it’s acceptable to treat first-time buyers, it says a lot about their business practices and even more about the value they place on customer trust. No one spending hundreds of dollars on a premium writing instrument should feel deceived or taken for granted. I hope they take this seriously, because this experience has left me with nothing but disappointment, and zero confidence in purchasing from them again

Great local spot for fountain pens. I buy all my ink there and occasionally get gift pens for other people. They also have Travelers journals which are some of the best. (I got mine on Amazon before I knew) going to get all my paper and ink refills from here going forward to support this awesome local business. Great shop, great prices, great staff, great products.

I love this store. They have the best variety of pens; from everyday writers to multi-thousand dollar pieces of art. And the store owner, Ms Leena, is truly amazing. She has the best personality and sweetest demeanor. She is extremely personable and takes the time to get to know her customers in the most genuine way. And all the store representatives are amazingly attentive and helpful to answer any questions as well as entertain you pen curiosities. Buying a pen from them was honestly the best buying experience and almost makes you want to give them your money. I’ll never buy a pen anywhere else.

Update: Haha. I originally wrote this review thinking I won for the mystery box for fountain pen day. I in fact, did NOT win (I confused the pen I got with the pro-gear slim), but that should tell you something. :) I got so much value out of the mystery box as a LOSER that I had thought I had won! That makes me a winner in my book. Original Review Begins: I bought a couple retro 51 pens for gifts for fountain pen day and thought “ehh, what the hell? the mystery box sounds fun. I’m in! Let’s see what they curate for me.” I was happy to participate in the mystery box because I like the idea of folks curating a fun discovery for me that I might not otherwise choose myself, not because I might win a super nice pen… but it turns out this time I also did not win. I originally thought I was the lucky recipient of the soda pop blue Sailor Pro Gear Slim, but instead it’s “just a $300 1911S pen” (the mystery box was $200 for reference). I don’t yet have a Sailor pen in my collection and the color is perfect for me. It is a gorgeous pen. The “normal” pen I got was a Shaeffer 300, which is gorgeous too and writes like a dream. The inks I got aren’t things I would choose which makes them perfect for a mystery box. I had fun, and I would do it again. I am only giving 4 stars because I feel like I am being slightly bribed based on my good luck and I don’t want that to bias me, but I will say in every interaction I have had so far with this store I have found it to be warm, kind, quick, honest and professional. They are good people and are well worth your time and money. I will of course, return for the mystery box next year (as well as the deals, duh… :p). Perhaps you can expand to include custom stationary? Perhaps you break apart some collections of cards and post cards, or include tiny rolls of washi tape? You can never go wrong with cute, unbranded stickers either. Get creative!!! :) All told my mystery box had about $420 of retail value inside it. I paid $200 to participate in the fun. I did not “win” anything special. I would do it again next year, despite not “winning” this year. That is how much value is here.
