I recently took a fair amount of clothes to the store on Wellington. As I was told on the phone the day before that there was no limit you could bring. I was just told that it must be freshly laundered. Mine was definitely freshly laundered, by appearance and smell that was very clear. Unlike the stale, musty smell that was in the store itself when I walked through the door. I went through the process and was told I would receive a text when they were done inspecting my clothes. I received that text a short time later, definitely far to quickly to have gone through my clothes. I was told when I got back to the store that they did not go through my clothes because they already were over stocked. It is beyond me why I would even be told to bring my clothes there if they did not have the room for it in the first place. They told me they bought my boots but that was all. When I got home I seen that there was 2 pair of jeans missing. If the person told me they bought those jeans I did not hear that nor see them in the bin they were keeping. I just heard the boots. Either way it was an experience I would never go through again and wouldn't recommend anyone to go through it themselves. If I could have put 0 stars I would have but it is a requirement to put a star in order to post the review. That is they only reason they got 1 star.

I went into Plato’s today to sell some clothes after I did a summer cleaning of my closet. I dropped off my clothes at 3:55pm and got the text at 5:30pm that my clothes were ready. I went to go pick up my items at 7:30pm. I gave the girl my ID at the register, she stated she couldn’t find my items, that maybe someone punched in my name wrong, even though when I got my receipt to sign, all my information was inserted properly. She searched for a few more minutes then found my bag. She apologized for the confusion. She then proceeded to tell me they cannot buy any of my items, which was a surprise to me considering I brought 3 full bags of clothes including summer, and fall clothes. She then asked me if I had a cat. I said I have a dog, then thought to myself there must have been so much dog hair, so I stated “was there a lot of dog hair?”, which even then I placed the items I was going to sell in the bags directly from my closet, but I was going to apologize and understood if they couldn’t buy the clothes for that reason. She then said they weren’t able to buy any of my items because my clothes were “damp” and smelled like “urine”. She said maybe your dog peed on your clothes… I said immediately “that’s not possible all these clothes were directly from my closet”. She looked annoyed and didn’t respond to what I said then said again they won’t be buying any of my items. She returned all 3 of my bags, 2 which weren’t looked through and 1 which wasn’t even fully looked through. This interaction had me second guessing if I genuinely spilled something on my clothes when they were in the car. So i still gave them the benefit of the doubt, I came home and got a family member to go through the same bag they barely touched. Not a single item of my clothes was damp nor did they smell like urine. I have been selling to plato’s for years now, I am always fine with them not taking items. But giving me a reason claiming my clothing smells like urine was extremely disrespectful and rude. It was embarrassing having someone honestly think I brought in a bag full of clothes that had wet clothing in it, with something like urine with such a distinct colour as well. If this was even true, and from the time I dropped off the clothing, wouldn’t you think they’d keep my clothing separate from other clothes if it smelled like urine? And if my items had this issue which is why none were taken, wouldn’t you have been able to located my items faster considering the gross state you claimed they were in? This was handled so poorly by the staff and claiming this reason was just so unbelievable, then looking frustrated with me when you are giving me such a false accusation was insane. If the staff just didn’t have the time to go through my clothes or none of them were worth buying I completely get that, but coming up with this crazy reason is beyond me and super unprofessional.

I love this location, especially for selling. The staff are friendly & efficient - they always complete sorting early. I appreciate their transparency when it comes to items they don’t take!

Honestly, love the store and concept. Downfall, I asked about return policy as I was buying for my daughter who was not with me. When I returned the item that did not fit I was given store credit only when told I would receive the money back. I brought her to the store and there was nothing in her size that she liked. When I complained the staff just kept saying sorry this is store policy; I don’t understand how only 14 days prior I was told of a different store policy.
