Summary: June 2025 - “5-STAR” review of a highly professional and personable builder, Bruce Rogister, and his talented team at The Professional Design Group (PDG) after the completion of our new large custom PVC deck and hardscape project. We are extremely happy with the results and highly recommend Bruce and PDG to anyone planning to revitalize their backyards into an oasis or just make small upgrades while dealing with a skilled and friendly man with strong communications. Bruce is the owner and hands-on builder that shows up most days (weather-permitting) with his team to perform the work and supervise operations to ensure complete satisfaction covering initial design and professional drawings, permits, county and HOA approval, materials delivery, construction modifications/remedies, final inspections, and site clean-up. He and his team worked tirelessly for five months through the winter and spring managing poor weather conditions and special-order materials delays to stay on schedule, while working through occasional hiccups and corrections to ensure our complete satisfaction. By the end of the project, Bruce had become a trusted partner, taking great pride in his work to resolve any discrepancy and became friends with our entire family. Scope – This project was a complete demo of a rotted wooden deck and rebuild of a large custom 674 square foot PVC deck with 12-foot brick piers/columns and aluminum railing over a walk-out basement patio that included rail and stair lighting, a hardscape paver sidewalk and gravel patio, grading/drainage, small retaining walls, waterproof dry-space store room under stairs (clever addition), new deck balcony off master bedroom, and an HVAC lattice fence. While we admit there was scope-creep, we felt confident that Bruce and crew could manage it with care and skill. Challenges Overcome – As with any large-scale project, ours came with several unexpected challenges that we worked through with courteous discussion to find satisfactory solutions as Bruce was determined to take care of us to the best of his ability. For example, to avoid blocking a basement window and patio door with an essential support beam, the PDG built a special pocket beam into the wall and then repaired and painted all affected wall siding. Gutters and downspouts had to be removed and rerouted to ensure improved appearance and functionality. A basement water leak found from removal of the old deck was rapidly patched and caulked to our satisfaction. A foundation drainpipe was even rerouted around the home’s foundation to enable the proper grading of the patio under the deck. In summary, Bruce took care of our needs and special challenges with open friendly communication and quality craftmanship. You cannot go wrong with Bruce Rogister and the Professional Design Group for your outdoor building project.

Professional Design Group worked with us to design and build a very large custom, multi-level Azek deck for our waterfront home. R. Bruce Rogister, was professional, reliable, creative and timely. We got 3 separate bids from various reputable companies. However, Professional Design Group was the only company that was small enough to deliver creativity versus the typycal “cookie-cutter” deck. We didn’t wand rectangles put together. One large company’s quote was higher than Professional Design Group, the other company was newer and not as professional and experienced. Bruce was on time with every aspect of this job. During the actual contruction phase, we worked with Bruce to make changes to the plan where it better fit with our existing structures. We also liked the crew who were professional and very talented. The project went very smoothly and Bruce kept us informed every step of the way. We’d also like to add that the crew worked with Bruce who was on-site at all times. They worked in the most excruciating, record-setting heat and they met the deadline that was promised. Their work was so outstanding that we breezed through all of the inspections which can sometimes be very stressful. Bruce’s designs and specifications were all up to code. At a glance, it was apparant that Bruce and his crew are true professionals. In summary, we have several properties and have had lots of work done on them over the years. Without exception, R. Bruce Rogister is the best all around contractor and architect we’ve ever had work on any of our properties. We’d give him a Five-Star rating in all areas: price, professionalism, timeliness, on-site presence, skill and creativity. If you want a true “custom” deck, you can’t go wrong with Professional Design Group of Richmond, Virginia.

"Wow"!! That's the reaction we get when everybody sees our new stamped concrete patio. It looks amazing. Most people think it's stone. Professional Design Group of Richmond is top notch. They did what they said they would do, they were on time, friendly, and above all else - PROFESSIONAL! In my opinion, that's a hard thing to come by in the construction field.
