Unbelievably Disappointing Experience with Rainbow Construction My experience with Rainbow Construction was so bad, so frustrating and time-consuming that I have to share it in hopes it would spare anyone considering using this company to not waste their time. I was remodeling an entire house and was referred to Rainbow by a close friend who’s a local real estate agent who spoke highly of them. Unfortunately, despite the recommendation, my experience was terrible from start to finish. 1. Consistent Tardiness and Poor Communication From the first meeting, which their employee showed up 40 minutes late, it became clear that punctuality, professionalism and communication weren’t their strong suits. This lateness became a recurring theme, with repeated delays, ignored follow-ups, calls not returned, and showing up to every meeting at least 30 minutes late and up to two hours late. 2. Unorganized Estimation Process I provided a detailed scope of work upfront, having experience as a contractor myself, but Rainbow repeatedly needed additional visits with different tradesmen to finalize an estimate despite everything being very well documented in the statement of work. 3. Unreliable Follow-Through In total, we met four times, with countless phone calls and texts in between. Promises to send estimates would go consistently unfulfilled, and the communication lagged terribly. Several times he said he sent an estimate and instead of an estimate he would random documents like “what to expect during construction” and say that “the estimate must not have gone through”. 4. Overall Indifference and Lack of Respect for My Time One of the most disappointing aspects of my experience with Rainbow Construction was their apparent indifference to my time. It felt as though they had little regard for the effort required on my part to meet them. Each time I made the 3-hour round trip drive to the site, I hoped for productive meetings and clear progress, yet was met with incomplete information, repeated delays, lies, excuses and vague responses that led nowhere. 5. Unethical Employee Behavior What was most alarming, was the apparent willingness to engage in unethical behavior, including their estimator attempting to cut the company out of the equation. After weeks of being given the runaround, I was shocked when he suggested I hire the companies subcontractors directly, which raised serious concerns about potential side arrangements or kickbacks. One of their subcontractors contacted me and provided a quote so egregiously high that it raised serious alarms that something else might be going on. As a business owner, I found this behavior not just unprofessional, but outright deceitful. It’s basically stealing from the company. Trust, honesty, integrity, and professionalism are essential in any business relationship, and Rainbow Construction demonstrated a complete lack of all of these core values. I hope this review helps others avoid a similar situation and steers them to choose a different and more trustworthy company. If this is how poorly they handle the estimation process, I can only imagine the issues during actual work. I even emailed the owner, Mark Guadagnoli to inform him of the issues, assuming he might be unaware of his team’s handling of the project, but he never responded. I understand companies get busy and may be slower to respond to smaller jobs, but this was a significant project worth tens of thousands of dollars. If you don’t want the work or are too busy then simply say that instead of stringing me along for two months. Their response is filled with lies. 1.The scope didn't change. 2. They suggested no permits 3. Their sub contractor contacted me 4. They delivered one estimate with no detail so I couldn't finalize scope because they would not follow up! If they cared they would have called me back when I raised the issues with their office. They instead chose to respond here. AWFUL!
Called to discuss having a 1000 sqft house built. Victoria said that was tiny and the lowest cost house they offer starts at 400k.
