Customer experiences
I recently visited the BMO branch in Chinatown while running errands, and I have to say, this is one of the slowest branches I've ever encountered. Waiting 30-45 minutes just to withdraw some cash for such a simple task is absolutely unacceptable. The branch has a consistent shortage of staff, and the employees seem inexperienced and unmotivated. It was disheartening to see so many elderly customers, some with mobility issues, standing in line without any seating available for them. What made the situation even worse was witnessing what I believe to be the branch manager, an Asian man, casually picking up food and bubble tea from UberEats. He glanced at the long queue and simply walked back inside, while a couple of staff members emerged from their offices only to look at the line and return without offering any assistance. The lack of urgency and care is astounding. I've read other reviews mentioning language barriers, which makes sense given the large Chinese and Vietnamese-speaking population in the area. While I personally had no issues communicating, I noticed the staff could have been more attentive. The Vietnamese-speaking employee in the burgundy sweater and black sweatpants was polite, but when we raised our concerns, she brushed them off without any acknowledgment. I plan to reach out to BMO management regarding these issues. It's crucial that they reevaluate their staffing and hire individuals who are efficient and genuinely care about their customers. Otherwise, they risk losing clients to other banks.
I recently visited a BMO branch to submit tax documents in response to an email request from the bank. My purpose was straightforward—I did not require any transactions, only to hand over the documents to a customer service or financial service representative. Unfortunately, I found the staff at this branch to be indifferent to customer needs. The service was exceptionally slow, with even the simplest tasks taking an unreasonable amount of time to complete. This experience was disappointing and frustrating, highlighting the need for better staff training and more rigorous internal audits by BMO to ensure quality service standards are upheld.
I have tried to get an answer from the branch manager. Although the person who opened my GIC that day promised to pass my question to the branch manager and he would definitely contact me, I have not received any response so far. I have escalated my complaint to the resolution office today. I will persist until BMO handles it.
Always have to wait for long time due to less experienced staff and shortage of staff as well. I have tried to visit different time spans morning mid and afternoon.. always get me 30 minutes wait due to which my own chores lag
