Sargent Logistics - Cross Dock, Warehousing

First I want to say that if you are an honest O/O and work hard to protect your company, then do not work with these people. We threw caution to the wind and decided to try to work with them but that was a huge mistake. First RC we got from them stated that the weight was 43k lbs. Broker called 10 min later stating shipper updated to the weight to 44.8k. We negotiated with the broker for an additional $200, albeit the weight wasn’t corrected on the 2nd RC. This load was originally cancelled by another carrier the day before so why wasn’t the proper weight known then? This is practically entrapment. We don’t typically accept loads <44k lbs, but we were willing to make an exception to aide the broker. The broker stated that the load must PU by 10 a.m.. This was false, the shipper had approved overtime to 14:30 by BMM. We found this out from the shipper. I had my driver go there directly to inquire since BMM wasn’t willing to communicate in a professional manner and was threatening to put a FrieghtGuard against us. Broker had 5 hours to rebook the load since our truck had an overage at the previous delivery and wasn’t able to offload. Broker had successfully rebooked before the shipper closed. 10/5/24 Our truck had a 07:30 delivery at Costco. The pallet overage was known at 09:25, this is something that wasn’t in our control. A slight language barrier led to a miscommunication that the truck was empty vs. being unloaded. Driver was unloading across the street from the PU for this load.10/7/24, their broker was still tracking our driver. This broker’s first action is to make a complaint on freight guard even after we talked with them and told them we are still willing to pull the load. His exact words were “I posted a Freightguard, enjoy”. He said that we were doing “UNETHICAL OR DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES” and “FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY”. This is not true, he is the one that lied about the time the shipper closes, how much time he has to rebook the load, and the weight of the load. With the posted freight guard they said that they will only take it down if we pull a load for them under their conditions; tried to blackmail us to pull their freight for cheap. They admitted on the phone that they use freight guards to punish carriers. They use deceptive practices to get freight hauled for free. And either way, they can’t remove the freight guard report since Carrier 411 doesn’t allow for report deletion.

Nothing bad to say. I did have a good dealing with Matthew one of the brokers. One thing I was focused on was the harassment with the phone call. Did not get to many calls. So I am glad about that.
