It’s hard to find the words to describe how wonderful Serene was during our postpartum experience. We welcomed Serene into our home days after the birth of our second child and it felt like we had known her forever. She brings a beautiful calm energy. Serene provided reflexology sessions to help balance hormones etc., meal prep, light cleaning and did some laundry for us and it was so helpful during the vulnerable and quiet days and weeks following birth. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend hiring Serene. It will be the best thing you do for yourself & your family postpartum.

We were so lucky and are grateful to have had Serene as our doula for the births of our two boys. Each labour experience was very different (18+ hour labour and Emergency C section vs. 6 hour labour by induction and VBAC) and Serene brought the exact energy I needed at both. Her strengths during my labours were being calm, powerful, and accommodating/anticipating needs. Serene is aptly named - she was the calm we needed while I was trying to cope with rushes. She was also the calm my nervous husband needed. I appreciated this trait the most about her presence at both labours. In addition to always being calm, she was also incredibly joyful. This was a lovely energy combination for me as I was trying to think of each passing rush as one less to finally meeting my baby. She was also marvellously powerful as a support partner during rushes. There was a moment of immense relief when she arrived for T's birth because I felt like an expert had arrived (my husband is lovely but useless during labour) and would guide us through this intense experience. She knew where to apply counter pressure, guide my hips, and advocate for me when I stated that the gas was not working. During both labours, Serene followed every wish I expressed ("Please hold my hand", "I need to swing my hips", "I need to be on a bed", "I need to be on all fours", "I need to take off all clothes") with immediate accomodation and support. While Serene was wonderfully accommodating, she was also excellent at anticipating when I needed ice water, wanted pictures, or was hungry for more snacks after delivering. Another part of Serene's care that I greatly appreciated was the follow up home visit. It was really nice (and fun!) to recount the labour in detail and discuss each of our experiences. If I were expecting again, I would find a way for Serene to join us in Vancouver for the birth. I highly highly highly recommend working with Serene.

I am forever grateful for this magical soul, Serene! Before I reached out to Serene, I had a lot of worry and fear about this birth, epidurals, etc. as I had quite a traumatic experience with my previous delivery. From our first online messages to our extra big goodbye postpartum hug she was there every step of the way. She has this calm demeanour and sincerity that completely rids the body of any anxiety. At one point during my birth I hit a point and said, Serene I don't think I can do this. She looked at me with calm and confident eyes and reassured me that I could. She suggested new positions, breathing techniques and performed reflexology. Those hands are magical and she's so intuitive with her clients' needs. We worked in perfect harmony as a team with the doctors and nurses. She felt like a close friend I've had for years. She completely reversed any fears I had and turned me into a "birth goddess" as she called it. I love my husband to death but I honestly couldn't have done it without Serene!
