I am so glad that we chose Sharon Mear! We read all the positive reviews and decided to contact her to train our dog. The way she has it set up is to schedule an initial consultation at our home and prior to that we fill out a form outlining all the issues that we want to address with the training. This was perfect since when she comes over we are not starting from scratch and we are able to use that time for her to observe how our dog behaved, especially in front of a stranger and for her to then formulate a plan. Right then and there the training started and she taught us concrete training exercises to work on with our dog. She took a lot of time with our dog and made sure we understood exactly what to do before she left that first consultation day. And, I have to say, she is a dog whisperer! She knew just how to engage our dog even though she had just met him. We signed up for 4 sessions and we were not disappointed! Our dog is already exhibiting behavior changes based on the advice and training exercises that she provided. She is also available if we have questions and she responds promptly. I highly recommend Sharon Mear.

Sharon is such an empathetic, warm person and my 1.5 year old poodle mix instantly loved her. She takes a very positive approach to training, with only positive reinforcement rather than negative. She is incredibly knowledgeable about cats and dogs, communicates behaviors well, and is very talented in reading what each animal needs and tailoring training based on those needs. Although we discontinued sessions with Sharon as our dog required a different type of approach/training sessions, she is an amazing trainer who will love your animal and help them work through their unique anxieties.

I cannot recommend Sharon enough! My puppy, Myka, started training with Sharon when she was only 8-9 weeks old, and as a first time dog mom, having Sharon’s guidance made the whole experience so much easier for me. Sharon made sure my apartment was puppy proof, advising me on the best toys and recommending food brands that would be healthy for Myka. What I appreciate most is that Sharon not only helped train Myka, but also supported me through the process of raising her and beginning her service animal training. She’s incredibly knowledgeable + patient, and always made sure both Myka and I felt confident every step of the way. Thanks to Sharon, Myka is thriving 😊 and I feel so much more secure as a dog mom. I’ve worked with Sharon two times now on both integrating a new cat into the household, and getting two bonded pairs to get along better after time apart. Sharon was always very thorough, and her prices are reasonable given the services she provides. She helped my cats get acclimated (and in some cases, as much as possible), and made me pretty comfortable about introducing cats on my own. She also has a great list of resources for cats depending on their needs; definitely helped me get my cats more active. I don’t really see myself needing another behaviorist after finding her.
