We recently had a thermostat go out on our 4 year old water heater that was installed by Shaw and was under warranty. The warranty part was mailed to us directly from Rheem. Shaw charged us $125 for diagnostic and another $165 to install the part. Almost $300 to fix a thermostat that was under warranty. Had we known, my husband would have installed himself. Make sure to ask for total costs beforehand! I never imagined it would be 1/3 of the cost of a new water heater. That was a mistake we will not make again!
