Darfons was able to take a reservation weeks in advance for 20 people. This was 3 days after Christmas as well. Our table was ready and our wait staff was very attentive. They also allowed us to take as much time as we needed. The food was very flavorful, and the pricing wasn't bad. We went on a Saturday, which had a brunch menu, so most entrees were around $16 - $18, on average. I would recommend Darfons and look forward to returning.
Darfon’s is a classic and practically an icon of Nashville dining. I always plan to try a new chef’s selection, but I normally end up choosing a very traditional classic, such as prime rib just because they do the classics so well. Good choice of local craft beers, bourbons, and wines. Service has always been dependable whether dining or at the bar. Great place to take clients, dates, or friends. I feel the value is there, especially considering the food/portions/service/attitude, and charges at newer, more “hip”, soulless corporate restaurants.
Husband's choice since we were near the airport. Saturday afternoon, and it had a very nice vibe for all ages. Locals and tourists eat here. Brunch is served till 2pm but you can still order from the regular menu. Worked out great for us since I wanted lunch and he wanted breakfast. We had the Shrimp and grits for starters(not pictured)/blackened chicken sndwhch/waffles/steak and eggs. Steak was perfect/ medium well/ just the way he ordered. We love Nashville and this place was a win for us. The drink menu had a little of everything and I overheard they have Happy Hour on Saturdays. Also, we had plenty of leftovers for the next day.
Server was very sweet and polite. I liked the classy casual atmosphere. Shrimp and grits were not how I expected. It was a grits cake with some funky sauce and 5 Shrimp on top. I took one bite and had to send it back unfortunately. The Calamari came out a bit pale so I asked for it to be refried before I even tasted or touched it. It was cooked nicely when I got it back. Very crisp with good texture. Unfortunately it was all rings and no tentacles which I like best. My husband said the mozzarella sticks were amazing. They looked impressive. I was not impressed with the marinara sauce. Bland and watery. I had the pecan pie with ice cream. It was deliciously buttery but super sweet. Could eat much of it unfortunately.
