Best dentist I've ever had. When I first moved to Portland one of the first tips my friends gave me was that this was the place to go for dental work and they weren't wrong. Lisa and her staff are always kind, they're sure to explain everything they're doing in your mouth to you rather than leave it a mystery, they go over the financial aspects of it so you know what you're getting into. I can also say from experience that when it comes to struggles against your dental insurance, Jill at the office will always, always fight the good fight on your behalf. Just about everyone I know in town goes here and we all have nothing but positive experiences.

I’m someone that hates to go to the dentist and has had multiple bad experiences. It was so wonderful to interact with Lisa . She was genuinely interested in making me feel comfortable and went out of her way to work around our crazy family schedule to see me. I left the office feeling like everything would be ok after a long time of worry. She didn’t judge me for not having the money for The procedure that I needed and worked with me to find the best option. No matter what’s holding you back from dental care this is the place to go. No judgment or hurrying you out. They will work with you and get you the care that you need.

The folks at 181 Dental are friendly and funny. However, I don't love needles and it is extremely difficult to get my lower jaw numb so I tend to need extra communication and care. That being said, I've never had a dentist struggle so much to give me a filling. Partway through, they started talking about how my anxiety was the problem. (who wouldn't be anxious after 45 minutes of being able to feel the drill?) From then on, managing my anxiety took precedence over managing my pain. I've never felt so gaslight or helpless. We didn't finish the filling. As I left, they went over strategies for managing my anxiety and ways I might be able to "distract myself" from the pain. These folks are great if you're looking for someplace fast, affordable, and "no nonsense". But I'd never recommend them to anyone who needs a bit of care and empathy when they're in the chair. Emotional intelligence wasn't really a priority.

Dr. Lisa Snyder & staff are always friendly & helpful with advice. The Dr. is ready to address dental issues, but only performs work that actually needs to be done. She is more than willing to make small adjustments to help improve overall dental health. Dr. & Staff help to make you feel comfortable, & like family!
