Great choices! Talk about a lot of choices of award winning BBQ! Pork, chicken and beef for sure, great fries and yessss cornbread. And the prices are terrific. Be prepared to wait in line... If you can find a parking spot :-) always a great indicator of a great place to eat. We had lunch there and it was fabulous. So much food for such a good price. I don't think they have anything not worth devouring on the menu. This is a locals place that is worth visiting no matter where or who you're from

If you’re in Des Moines and craving real BBQ, Smokey D’s is the spot! We stopped by on a road trip from the Field of Dreams and ordered a tray packed with flavor. We ordered burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, ham, ribs, and turkey, and every single bite was amazing. The ribs were tender with a nice smoky bark, the brisket had the perfect balance of fat and smoke, and the pulled pork melted in your mouth. The burnt ends? Absolutely incredible, crispy edges and packed with flavor. Even the ham and turkey were juicy and perfectly smoked, which is tough to do! The garlic bread was buttery and soft, perfect for soaking up all the goodness. The portions were generous, and we had plenty to share. The sauces were great as well! On top of all that, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was fun and casual. Classic BBQ joint vibes with a local flair. Check out the photos to see what we dug into. Smokey D’s definitely lived up to the hype. Highly recommend if you're looking for legit BBQ in Iowa!

Just happen to be passing through and I enjoy trying out new BBQ joints. Smokey Dave’s is not bad, the brisket tacos were pretty good. The burnt ends were a bit too squishy for me. Coleslaw was good, and the service was top notch.

Delicious barbecue in a unique atmosphere! Note: you have to go up front to order- can’t order from the table! I got a dinner basket with double Brisket- it was well worth it!! Quite delicious. The side salad as a side was great! The cottage cheese I got for a side was okay. The corn bread was very very good! I can’t wait to bring my family here and try some Nachos and other things as well! Give this place a taste- they know what they’re doing!
