Had lunch and took a tour of the facility. The food was quite tasty and served at appropriate temperature. Residents seemed to be happy and enjoying their meals. Wait staff seemed to know all of the residents' names. Facility is not overly large, with 180 apartments. There is a waiting list to get in. Only toured one studio apartment, which was too small for my needs. Monthly fee includes 3 meals a day - no kitchens in the units, to my knowledge. Nice location.

I seem to have created a stir here with my suggestion cards. This morning I wrote a comment card about not receiving watermelon in which I mostly complained that they are not doing a great job with food planning (last night I was denied any additional slices of bacon because they had run out). When the manager noticed me filling out a suggestion card, they promptly told me that there are a number of other retirement homes they could advise me to check into. They soon returned with a list of such homes. Why not simply assure me that my comment cards are being shared with upper management? Now I feel unwelcome here. Update: 7/13/2025 Why are my suggestion cards being interpreted as ā€œI don’t like living here anymore.ā€? Did I ever say that? I am simply trying to improve our lifestyle here with suggestions that allow the management to target some potential areas for improvement. I ultimately want to see this retirement community continue to improve. If I decide I don’t like it here then yes, I will move. But when the manager gives me names of other retirement communities, I have to assume that they don’t want me here anymore. They don’t see my suggestions as a means for continuing improvements. I have simply become an annoyance to them. That also tells me that they are not interested in improving this facility. They would prefer to get me out of the way so they can continue the status quo. Is that the vision you want to convey to your residents? If so, then maybe I better get moving PS. I am not the only one who has been approached and advised to leave.

The very first time I stepped into Chesterfield Hgts I knew this was the Place for Mom (Dolores Coller). It was so Beautiful and Elegant! Teresa Sensibaugh was so friendly, accommodating and informative and mom was very excited about having her independence. I especially loved the idea that she could stay there through the end of life instead of having to move to another facility when her condition declined and that Third party caregivers could come to her. The 3 Chef cooked meals are exceptional and she was made to feel like family from the staff and residents right from the beginning. Teresa, Jeff & Patty and Malcom & Linda and Donny have been so attentive and friendly to her. To have her feel Welcomed and Loved is Priceless! Most recently(Sat May 27) we celebrated her 86th Birthday in the Activity Room and we were so Grateful for the use of the space and freedom to decorate. Thanks to Amara for allowing us the time to decorate and reserve the room for the evening! She enjoyed the Surprise of Family and Friends & Residents Celebrating her. We really couldn’t ask for more! Much Love & Respect for a Well Run Facility šŸ’
