I celebrated my birthday at the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco this evening, and it was an unforgettable experience! The ambiance perfectly captures what you would imagine a traditional prime rib house to be like…warm, welcoming, and filled with classic charm. The table-side salad service and the iconic meat cart are signature highlights, and they truly elevate the dining experience. I chose the King Henry VIII cut, complete with the bone, and it was absolutely perfect….cooked to perfection with unparalleled flavor. Every side dish complemented the prime rib beautifully: the creamed spinach was exceptional, the mashed potatoes were smooth and flavorful, and the Yorkshire pudding was divine. The bread and butter were outstanding, and the crème brûlée was the perfect sweet finale. For my birthday, I was treated to a delightful sorbet "on the house," which was a wonderful touch. The option to bring your own bottle was great, with a reasonable service charge that made sense and added convenience. We were a group of six, and the service was top-notch…attentive and friendly, making the evening even more special. We enjoyed the experience so much that we've already made reservations for next year's birthday celebration! A word to the wise: it's best to make reservations well in advance to secure your spot at this fantastic restaurant. The House of Prime Rib truly sets the standard for a prime rib dining experience, and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Accompanied by a delectable side of creamy mashed potatoes, rich Yorkshire pudding, and fresh spinach salad, the meal was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. The House Of Prime Rib also offers an impressive selection of wines, which perfectly complemented the meal. The knowledgeable sommelier recommended the perfect pairing that enhanced the dining experience. Overall, House Of Prime Rib offers an exceptional dining experience that combines excellent service, an inviting atmosphere, and, most importantly, outstanding food. It's no wonder this place has been a staple in San Francisco for years. Fantastic prime rib and fantastic service. Got there at about 4:45 and was able to get seated right away at the bar. Went on a Wednesday and they were packed! The drinks were also great because for $16 you basically get two drinks because you get the cocktail shaker full as well. Make a reservation if possible because I was there 15 minutes before they technically started dinner service and I was the last seat at the bar and there was no tables available!

Great dining experience that comes at a cost, but the quality to value is worth it. The City Cut (basic combo) is about $61 now in April 2025, compared to $53 a year ago, so is a noticeable price increase. There is also a SF fee (I recall for staff and benefits, but forget exactly) that is added to the bill and comes out to about $5-10 for a party of 2. Everything was great, from the bread to the salad and baked potato prepared tableside, to the actual prime rib. Service was great despite it being very busy and even after 9pm on a weekend, and it is a very large restaurant with a few dining rooms. Valet is $19 cash (not sure if fee for card or if cash only)
