When I was desperate for a therapist, Stokes was the *only* place I found that took my insurance and could get me right in, and it didn’t matter that they were an hour from me because they offer telehealth! They matched me with Courtney, who I have been seeing for 3 years now. Courtney has been instrumental in the progress I have made and I would recommend both her and Stokes in general to anyone!

UPDATE: I have increased my review from 1 star to 3. After writing this, I was reached out to buy a manager. She apologized and said she would talk to the therapist and office staff. I was then given the support to find a therapist within their system that met my needs. It is a much better fit and I am happy staying with stokes. The Ansonia office is great. I was seeing a great therapist, John, in the Ansonia office. He was really helping me. I get a call the day before my next scheduled appointment saying that he is no longer with them and would I like to switch to someone else. To let him go with no notice to his patients is very irresponsible and uncaring to mentally vulnerable. I only want to do in person therapy, so it took a couple weeks to find someone to match my availability. She has canceled half of the appointments so far, asking me to switch to virtual or call instead. This is not effective for me or helpful, so I always decline, which cancels my session for the week. I called the office to switch providers again and was basically told I would be on a wait list for a very long time, and was not allowed to talk to a manager. Stokes does not seem to care about their patients at all.

I normally don’t write bad reviews because that’s what most people tend to do, but if I can help another mother seeking therapy for her child, I feel the need to share my experience. I would recommend staying away from Stokes Family Counseling. Maybe it was just our therapist, but the overall experience was extremely frustrating. Scheduling was difficult, and good luck getting anyone to call you back—even when trying to update insurance information. The worst part was that my son’s therapist ghosted us not once but twice, despite all the arrangements I made for him to attend his appointments. She completely no-showed. and even in between there were big gaps in communication where I would not hear from her. I really tried to give it time, And understand that therapists are human too, but it shouldn’t have to be this hard. God forbid a child were in crisis—it’s really disheartening.

Mrs. Blanchard is a wonderful therapist. She provides an abundance of support, works diligently with her clients to meet the individual needs of everyone. She provides a wonderful therapeutic experience for all. She has proven time and time again just how much she too cares about those who she helps. Would give her 10 stars if it was an option!!
