Customer experiences
So far so great, I have had an excellent sales, purchasing and service experience with this dealership to date! Loving my 25 Forester Wilderness Thank you to Cam, Makayla and Jason
I had a really disappointing experience at Subaru North Bay. I called ahead and confirmed a test drive for a Crosstrek, but when I arrived, things took a turn. They refused to let me test drive the vehicle unless I agreed to a credit check—before I even had the chance to see or feel how the car drives. At first, they told me it would be a soft credit check, which I agreed to, and everything came back fine. But then they suddenly demanded a hard credit check just to allow a test drive. That completely went against what they initially told me. It felt dishonest and unprofessional they made a promise and then broke it. They claimed it was “their policy,” but that just felt like an excuse. Noah, the staff member I dealt with, seemed to have no control, it looked like the decision came from his manager Cole or possibly Cole’s supervisor. Overall, this experience was frustrating and felt like a waste of time. I wouldn’t recommend this dealership to anyone. Don’t trust what they say on the phone, it may change as soon as you show up.
Would not recommend them for any used vehicle purchase. I had correspondence with the sales team for about a month to prepare for a long voyage to North Bay to look at a few used vehicles. Along the way I told them lots about my situation: coming from out of town, wanting to finalize a deal and drive away with a vehicle either same day or within 24 hours. I asked on the phone if there were any known mechanical issues with a Crosstrek I had interest in, and was told no. I asked why it had so much service history in 2021, and did not have my text answered. When I finally got into the thing after dropping money on travel and accommodations to get to North Bay, I instantly noticed its clunky wheel bearing -- and the hot rubber smell from them storing its all-seasons inside the vehicle for who knows how long. It was June and the studded winter tires were still on (trying to mask the wheel bearing noise?), and the passenger side mirror had large cracks. Another Crosstrek I drove had shuddering brakes even at low speeds and high traction. Its interior smelled quite bad. The third vehicle (a Honda) ran great but again had a bad smell. Any comments I made about the poor state or clarification of service history of the vehicles were interrupted, misunderstood, or deflected ("they'll be fixed during certification"). I thought I was pretty clear that I don't have the time or desire to wait for obvious mechanical issues to be fixed. Their prices are great compared to just about anywhere else if you're willing to make the trip, but they quickly and completely lost my trust.
We are from out of Province, visiting family. We were stranded yesterday when our Jeep broke down in the parking lot of this excellent dealership. They were extremely responsive to our situation and welcomed us into their service department. They could not have been more thorough in their diagnosis and handling of the problem with the vehicle. Jason in service and technician Mike looked after us very well and had the vehicle repaired in very short order. I cannot say enough good things about the reception, vehicle service and customer focus demonstrated by everyone we spoke to and dealt with. I would happily purchase a new vehicle from this company if I needed one. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful experience and a job well done. PK
