Super 8 by Wyndham Iowa Falls

Absolutely awful. Raggedy, small rooms, no microwave, no fridge, in the 4 days we were there, no housekeeping or even towels were offered, the only upshot is there are smoking rooms and it's pet friendly. For $85/night though, it is NOT worth it. The owner is extremely rude, the staff are generally nice, but the area is dangerous and frankly so are some of the residents. Yelling, fighting, constant drama. Someone kicked in another resident's door the other night, and the place was swarmed with cops. It truly is a hellhole. Also, roaches. Lots of road noise from I35. Unless you are truly down on your luck, AVOID THIS PLACE.

For the price, this was a good hotel. It's sort of weird to get to, but located right off the interstate which gives easy access to wherever you are headed. The hotel has some age on it. They have done a good job of updating the inside of the rooms. Comfortable mattresses. All sorts of plug ins and USB ports. Fridge and microwave. TV. Free wifi. Not enough towels provided and when I went to the front desk to get more, I was told I had to turn in the ones I used first. How weird! Free coffee offered in the mornings. Price was great. $75/night. Lots of parking. Pretty quiet for being so close to the interstate. Room very clean. Nice bedding. Could have used more or better pillows.

WARNING: BED BUGS AND/OR TICKS. To start this review, I think the desk staff were as great as they can be! I loved that pets stayed free! There is a lot of parking, too. Everything after that was not amazing. We were given two cards, but only one was active while the other could not be activated. When I asked for the faulty card to be activated, the other stopped working. The room looked like it needed all new furniture, the sheets were worn and torn with holes in them, the restroom didn’t have a lock on it. The hotel room was pretty small for a queen bed room, but that’s just me being used to bigger rooms. When we were taking a shower at night, we noticed that there was a small insect that crawled from the drain! We tried to drown it, but it just came back and lingered there! (A picture will be attached to this review). If it was a tick then I can’t exactly blame the motel since there could be people that don’t properly care for their dogs. If it was a bed bug then shame! After our initial discovery, we pulled back the bed sheet and inspected the entire bed! We didn’t find any signs of bed bugs in our bed, but that little insect is proof that there might be an infestation in another part of the motel. This motel is very sketchy considering that it’s next to a decent neighborhood and two other lodging establishments. I wanted to ask the staff a question through the phone, but then I noticed that the landline phone was only for decoration as it wasn’t even plugged in. The location isn’t the best. If you want quiet then all you get hired is constant highway noise as the motel is right next to the highway. Again, loved that pets were welcomed, but when trying to take my dog to the grass, the entire yard surrounding the motel was covered in pet droppings! I understand that the motel can’t exactly fix that, but there were multiple bag stations on the property that were completely empty, it would be nice if the motel kept up with that. Luckily, I had my own bags. This is an establishment where a short stay is good, but not anything longer than 1-2 days. The good service from staff is the only reason why my review is not lower. I have received better experiences at other establishments for the same/lower price!
