We Ate at Sushi Hero Beachwalk Kuta: We Got Food Poisoning, Caught a Virus, and Got Sick! In Bali, we are very careful about hygiene and avoid eating at restaurants that look unclean or poorly maintained. Sushi Hero Beachwalk Kuta, on the other hand, looked very clean, well-maintained, and new from the outside. That’s why we decided to eat there. The staff was very polite and helpful. The presentation of the food was excellent, and the taste was fine with no issues. However, they use a lot of sugar in their dishes. Everything we ordered had a noticeably sweet taste. This could be part of their culinary culture or simply the chef’s style, but if you plan to eat here, be prepared for it. The real problem, however, was hygiene and health. After eating, we all got sick, one by one. It started with our child: he had diarrhea, then vomited, and after a couple of days, he developed a high fever. It was a tough three-day process for him. Then, I got sick, followed by my spouse. We all had similar symptoms: vomiting, nausea, weakness, fever, and extreme fatigue. Our entire time in Kuta was ruined. Even now, we are still feeling weak, exhausted, and unwell. After looking into it, we found other reviews with similar complaints. This does not seem to be regular food poisoning but rather a virus. The symptoms resemble rotavirus, but it is not exactly the same. Regardless, it is clear that we caught something from eating here. Advice for those planning to visit: If you are going to eat here, be extremely cautious! Take precautions to support your immune system and be extra careful about hygiene. We do not want others to go through what we experienced. Summary: ✅ Great service ✅ Beautiful food presentation ✅ No issues with taste ❌ Dishes are overly sweet ❌ Hygiene is questionable – we caught a virus and got sick! We deeply regret eating here. One of the best sushi spots we’ve ever been to! The sushi is unbelievably fresh, and after dining here, it’s hard to enjoy sushi anywhere else. There’s always a line to get in, but it’s 100% worth the wait. The quality, presentation, and flavors are next level. I’m craving Sushi Hiro right now all the way from Australia, can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend to any sushi lover visiting Bali.
