edit - he lies in his response - he says he come many time, but he come took measurement and left each time. Never tried to fix or finish the job. original - hire him for my screen door in juin. he never finish the job, the door doesn’t stay shut, its missing a latch - my dog can push her head and the door opens there’s a hole on the top that he said he would fix, big enough for bugs and bee to come inside and he told me 4 time he will come back and fix it and he never did. didn’t do a good job is a nice guy but never came back to fix . not dependable
edit again - Reported him to BBB - he requested I contact him to sort things out, sent several emails, again no response. edit- I attempted to communicate with him for months & he’s been completely unresponsive or just doesn’t show up with zero accountability. He says he attended the property 6 times, yet the ceiling which he damaged is still not repaired. Final photos of the work will be posted, when the damage is repaired. original- I hired Eric to redo my deck in May 2025. During the job, one of his workers fell through my deck and into my neighbours’ bedroom ceiling, causing major damage that I then became responsible for. Initially it took him weeks to do the original job, leaving propane tanks and equipment loose on a third story level during storms for weeks. After the job was “completed,” it was not done done well, there were black stains all over which he said the rain would wash away (false), water began pooling between the layers of the deck, and that moisture caused visible discolouration, leaking and cracking in my neighbours’ unit. I reported this leak immediately. He assured us he would fix the leaking deck and the neighbours ceiling. What followed was months of repeated no-shows and ignored messages. Across the summer, he cancelled or failed to show up well over 15 times (could be more, this is absolutely not an exageration) despite personally confirming specific dates. Some weeks he did not respond at all, and other times he apologized only to cancel or no show. In August, when I sent him a clear written summary of the problems and asked for a timeline, he replied with messages that were surprisingly unprofessional and dismissive, rather than taking responsibility or offering a solution. Given the seriousness of the situation and how long I had been waiting, the tone was completely unnecessary. Eventually, because winter was approaching and the deck was still leaking, I had to send a formal written demand. Only then did he agree to return (months later/October) and complete a surface-level fix on my own unit. However, the neighbour’s ceiling — the one his worker fell through — was still not repaired to how it looked before (cracking and different texture than the rest). After October, he went right back to the same pattern: promising dates, not showing up, ignoring messages, and leaving both me and my neighbours chasing him. As of November 24, their ceiling remains unrepaired despite many attempts to schedule him. I have now had no choice but to hire a different contractor to fix the work as he has been completely unresponsive to myself and my neighbours again since his most recent no show and no communication last week.. On a side note- the people he hires are also questionable. One man showed up on my property demanding that I call Eric, he would not leave and kept insisting that Eric was a scammer who never paid him for the work he did. When I brought this up to Eric he told me that the guy was a drug addict and that I should know this is common in the construction industry… It does not excuse the fact that his employees behave in this unprofessional and unsettling manner. He is filled with excuses and no accountability. On a positive note, as for his actual work, he didn’t do a bad job once he repaired the deck in the end. He seems to know his stuff, is well rounded, he’s just unfortunately extremely unreliable. We all had faith in him and did not want it to get to a negative review, however this has been an ongoing issue since early May and felt that 6 months of waiting is suffice & more than reasonable. This entire experience has been extremely stressful, time-consuming, and avoidable. The lack of communication, reliability, professionalism, and accountability has been the biggest issue. I would strongly recommend proceeding with caution and expect delays/lack of communication or simply choose another contractor to save yourself the stress and headache.
Update: Thanks for your response. However, according to your email, the repair date provided was September 29th, when you visited and mentioned that you needed someone who specializes in ceiling repairs. You did not show up for the next two proposed dates, nor did you respond to our calls. We have been more than patient, but the fact remains that the ceiling is still not repaired and you have not followed through on your commitments. Additionally, there is no need for arrogance in your responses. It may be a small repair for you, but for us, it concerns our home, and we have been impacted through no fault of our own. Therefore, it is not a small issue. Your approach reflects your lack of responsibility and empathy. Original: Eric has demonstrated a concerning lack of professionalism and reliability. One of his workers fell through our ceiling while repairing our neighbour’s balcony, and although Eric initially committed to addressing the damage, six months have now passed without resolution. He did a patch work but after that the ceiling shows visible cracks and leaks which makes the bedroom unusable.Despite numerous follow-ups from our side, we ultimately had to abandon our attempts to have the repair completed. This incident rendered our primary bedroom unusable for an extended period. Eric provided multiple proposed repair dates but attended only one of approximately ten scheduled appointments. This caused significant disruption to our daily schedules, including impacting my husband’s work, as he had to remain at home each time to provide access. We hired him based on his positive Google reviews; however, our experience did not reflect those endorsements. Once payment was made, communication and accountability deteriorated, resulting in undue stress and an unresolved repair. I would never recommend Terry Constructions to anyone.
